do you understand statistics? if u.s. has 360
million people and another country has 60
million ( 1/6) you can't just compare totals ?

as in total #'s of deaths. or total #'s of infections
that's misrepresenting the data. it's meaningless

As sual you lot are arguing about statistics, hasn't anyone ever told you that stats are and can be skewed to give a result one particular person may want, unless you know how those stats were obtained, the criteria etc, then they are useless .

A lot of people died at all those events, what they do NOT show is the number of other peo0ple who died because of the War, Illness linked to etc.

The US has less than 5% of the worlds population of approx 7.5 billion so lets start with that statistic which by the way is pretty factual .

Here is some sad facts about American history, the worst nation in the world at handling this pandemic . . .
No . the facts you present, are again not true .
brazil , india , russia , mexico all have higher %'s
of fatalities per 1k infections. many other countries have rates on a par with u.s. your info is false
Flapper at it again

Anyway you look at it approx 2 million people have died, and given the stupidity of wars and the fact that many of the deaths during the pandemics were avoidable, it's not a great advert for the human race

Thanks Doodoo,I have no problems with your figures.

The gist of my post was

a) Far more relevant today than that of American Indians in past centuries
b) A tradgedy that has been made worse by mismanagement by a very wealthy nation that could have handled this better
c) based on deaths, it is the greatest disaster in American history

I would suggest that making comparisons with other nations is moot. This thread is America's history, not world history, besides most, not all, of the other countries with high death rates are tird world countries whose resources are incapable of dealing with the pandemic.

didnt say it wasn't bad in u.s. , in fact could be a
lot better. only that a lot of other countries are
worse. probably due to vaccine/ care access

Good grief man. Comparing the medical capabilities of third world countries to that of the USA, is as useless as tits on a bull. With their poor medical infrastructure it is no wonder infected people die at a greater rate, if you get severe Covid and are left untreated, there is a good chance you will die.

Even then, their infection rates and overall deaths per million population is way below America's. Russia not much better, but not to sure if anybody believes the figures they publish.

there you go again, the stuff is post simply
isn't true. you were the one who stated u.s. the
worst ( which it isnt) you were the one comparing

you insist on your facts, but anyone who checks
the data. can see they are incorrect

Nice research noosard, almost all of the countres with a higher death rate than the USA were third world or poor Eastern European countries. Lithuania was the exception, a good standard of living etc. However, they declared a state of emergency in Feb '20, very early, and took strong measures to combat the pandemic. Not sure why their death rate was so high, but certainly their government was very proactive in attempting to deal with Covid

Death rates are an important measure, but not the only measure of mismanagement. The USA did not take Covid seriously, some states are still passing legislation that interferes with safety measures such as manadatory vaccinations in vital sectors and the wearing of masks. The US has massive health infrastucture, put these factors together and the USA has a rightful claim to be the worst nation to manage the pandemic.

Bottom line is SO WHAT< THIS Pandemic AKA Covid 19, caught the whole world with its pants down and we all had our fingers up our bums wondering what the hell to do next, so much confusion that many believe anyone other than those with superior intelligence in these matters and hence we have a world where many deny this and almost everything else .
we has species should be so proud of ourselves, I say let us issue everyuone with a gun and one bullet and you can shot yourselves.
THOSE who deny are a serious danger as they MAY cause harm to others maybe un-intentionally but harm they could cause , we lock up those who may harm us, but these morons we allow to pollute the airwaves and peoples minds and guess what they die but no criminal charges are ever brought against them why not ????????????

People die each and every day it is called life , the fact that this virus has hastened a few to meet the maker is part and parcel of the rich tapestry of life.
Those okay embrace it , live it and stop bloody whinging about the what ifs, the maybes and live.

This it is sad to say is a result of many expecting answers from others instead of arranging their little grey cells top examine, interrogate and come to a conclusion about what is BEST for themselves and then go ahead and make that decision, then the only person they can blame is themselves,
