Seems a good opportunity for an advertising campaign: Move to Udon! We're 200 meters above sea level.

I wonder what plans the Thai government has for dealing with this problem.

answer me this? Has such predictions dulled the construction market in Bangkok?? Malls, Condos, High rises, apartments huge infrastructure projects.. All going non-stop.. While I'll buy that "rising sea levels will affect more people" I think the "erase cities" thing is pure click-bait nonsense... You need only check the 30 year bonds for cities like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Charleston, and many others to see that those cities are still selling them and they're being bought..

Now now Alan. That's mean spirited.

I think property prices and insurance premiums are already being affect by the increased risk of climate change flooding in parts of the world. There are low lying suburbs in NZ where I wouldn't purchase a house. It's going to be interesting watching the relative value of properties shift. I expect there are already studies looking at this.

If my memory serves me, when an individual decided to relocate to Bangkok, the idea of providing so many canals was to ensure the water had somewhere to go , sadly since then successive weak planning etc has made them almost useless in dealing with that problem.
Venice is sinking as Bangkok will, however Venice has a plan and it seems to be working, bangkok has no plan, never has and will never spend the money, the Government will be alright, they will just relocate and bugger the other 14 million, they have TO FIND THEIR OWN WAY. ,

Insurance companies only need a sniff of an excuse to increase premiums .
Lets face it they are in business to make money , they are not your friend , just blood sucking parasites .
Whilst i agree sea levels are rising , its going to be a while before it affects that many people .
Places like Bangladesh have been suffering erosion for years , yet places like Holland , which i believe is around 80% below sea level seem to cope well .

Agree Saint Man has the ability to thwart Mother nature, with intelligence and logical thinking, but that is why I say here it is not going to happen. My sketchy information is that the Dutch offered advice and it was rejected, so now they have a problem .
