Russia has the military might to win the war, BUT, at what cost. The Ukrainian guerilla tactics are destroying a lot of equipment not to mention killing lots of soldiers. The Russian commanders have no idea how to protect themselves against those tactics. Their plan now is to reduce cities to rubble and force the people to simply give up.

I don't think Russia would resort to nukes. NATO would outgun the Russian military and Russia would be doomed. As for myself, I'm waiting for Putin to killed or somehow be thrown out of his position.

Destroyed T-90M Russian tank.
A journalist has posted a photo on social media of what experts say is the first confirmed loss in the Ukraine war of one of Russia's most advanced tanks.

Reading all the NEWS regarding this spat, it would appear to me a slightly untrained eye ( although did serve in HM Forces ) the Russian Military seems to have come unstuck when they are fighting real armies. Ok in far flung places, iran, Iraq even Afghanistan and small island nations, but a real live all singing and dancing Military, they fail miserably.
FOR years the West has been slightly in awe of Russias strength of the Military, now it appears that apart from the Nuclear threat, boots on the ground is so much hot air 11

Even their Navy has problems staying afloat, so although I wait with bated breath about the MAY 9th edict emanating from Dodgy Putin, the fact he is going for an Operation for Cancer is in my book a prelude to removing him and turning it around .
Thoughts anyone ?????????????/

Permission to speak, Sir. I don't think the Kremlin did too well when the Soviets occupied Afghanistan either. Stinger missiles supplied by the US seemed to bring down alot of their helicopters and turn the war in favour of the Locals.

so they're all evacuated , the last 50. but hang on we were told there were 1000's of civilians trapped. remember the Ukraine government sending 50 buses to pick them up but they couldn't get through, fake news propaganda going on, looks good though. Also reports of civilians saying they were held as a human shield, and desecration of russian dead reported by ukrainian soldiers , France called a meeting about it. war is a vicious thing that turns people into animals.

Just listened to (yet another) BBC radio host eulogizing those opening their UK homes to Ukrainian 'refugees'. I would be a bit more careful. After all, these are (mostly) the women and children that Priti Patel was reluctant to admit in the first place.

Wasn't that the evacuation of civilians just from the Steel Plant? I think there are still quite a few stuck in the city.

yes the disinformation is running riot ,they say 100,000 are still there, but 90% of the city has been destroyed. there is no city left. so where are they, did they drive by 100,000 people sitting in the rubble just to get 50 people out of a steel plant. none of it adds up.

It's all go isn't it? The EPL relegation struggle. The BAFTA's and a black Dr Who. FI Miami Beach with a fake marina. America's First Lady popping over to visit Mrs Zelenskyy in time for Mother's Day and even Canadia's Prime Minister Trudeau making his latest celebrity trek to Kyiv. Isn't there a war on over there or something?

Meanwhile, Vlad's still got a firm handle on the grim realities.

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Finland and Sweden have been considering applying for membership of the NATO military alliance
On May 12, Finland will decide to apply for NATO membership, newspaper Iltalehti reported on Sunday, citing anonymous Finnish government sources.
It would come in two steps, Iltalehti reported. President Sauli Niinisto would first announce his approval for Finland to join, followed by parliamentary groups giving their approval for the application.
If Finland applies, Sweden is likely to do the same, as it would not want to be the sole Nordic outsider. Other Nordic countries - Norway, Denmark and Iceland -- have joined the pact as founding members. Several recent polls suggest a majority of Swedes are in favor -- something never seen before Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Good.

Given the concerns about the unwell Russian and his now reported love for nukes, I wonder what western intelligence agencies have been saying to their leaders about Putin over say the last 10 years. Have they under-estimated the danger? Whatever the American intelligence agencies were saying to Trump, it didn't seem to register with Trump.

Noted nothing ever said to Tump penetrated his brain unless it was a way to make money for him and his companies, Putin is a worry as he rinds me of a dying dog flailing about before his demise , that gentlemen is scary, hoping that SANER heads militarily will prevail in the Russian Military unless they all want to join the ranks of the world extermination cult.

Trump's tenure was only four years. There were a couple of other double-term US leaders who weren't paying much attention.

To suggest that Trump single-handedly precipitated the current frisson with Putin is , well ++++++
