I got mine from a clinic near AEK Udon. If you walk down Posri road from AEK over the railway tracks and just past the market there is a clinic on the right side. I presented my passport and he handed me a medical certificate. 50 Baht. I could have had every disease known to man and he didn't even venture from beyond his hatch.papaguido wrote:LA,laphanphon wrote:same here, 30 baht and she didn't even look at me. had a cert from aek udon, they wouldn't accept, tho it did say driver license med. cert. go figure. those others have had theirs accepted
Where did you go for your med cert.
...open for suggestions from anyone else.
Thanks

Re: Thai Driving Licence (again)
Friend of mine has the following problem...
Got the 1 year one no problem as he was on a multiple entry O visa. That is soon to expire but he is now on a Tourist visa... Can he get a 5 year licence or not????????

Re: Thai Driving Licence (again)
I think he does, I recently obtained mine and had to provide copies of my passport incl the visa page. On the other hand he can go and try to get it before his non O expires. What's he got to lose?

Easier to get on the O visa for sure.
If its his first time Thai licence, then he will only get a 1 yr licence

OK, what tests do they want the typical farang applicant to pass? This for a car DL only.

Re: Thai Driving Licence (again)
I had international licence so didn't do a test but some have to do a reaction test... Sit on a chair when light goes red hit the virtual brake pedal or something like that... From what I have heard you would have to have the reactions of a crack addict to fail it.tamada wrote:OK, what tests do they want the typical farang applicant to pass? This for a car DL only.

Hi,
Do not know why anyone on a "O" type visa would go to all this trouble. And hoop jumping.
You can use your own countries driving lic. for 90 days in LOS, according to Thai. law. With a "O" visa you have to leave Thailand every 90 days, so when you return to Thailand you have another 90 days etc. The first year i was here i had a International lic. A friend who is in the police said i would not bother with getting another one, it only lasts 12 months, and to save my money, as i was leaving the country every 90 days. Been doing this for over 3 years now and no problem. Every time i have been stopped by the HP they have only asked for my driving lic. and were not wanting to see my passport.
If i had a "O-A" visa i would get one but with the pound now lower than 50B i fall just short of the money requirement's i.e. 800,000B or 65,000Ba month.

Re: Thai Driving Licence (again)
Does the 90 reporting still qualify the driving licence issue ?? of MUST u actually leave the country.
This might the reason for many ??

Re: Thai Driving Licence (again)
I fronted up at the local LTO after official hours at 4 pm on Monday and they accepted my DL application. I did stop at the photocopy lady at the foot of the stairs first so made it easier when I turned in the paperwork copies they require. Passed the reaction and colour blindness tests and 20 minutes later after getting my picture taken and 205 baht paid, back on the road with a 1-year Thai DL.

Re: Thai Driving Licence (again)
Well if you drove in the UK without a licence, would u get fined 4 GBP ( approx 200 Baht ) NO
The issue has been discussed before recently, about the reasons why u need a licence and Int driving licence accompanying your origional licence.
Issues such as car insurance maybe be void if none can be produced at the time of a claim etc.
