Pipe and conduit lengths
Pipe and conduit lengths
What's the standard length of pvc pipe on the racks in hardware shops? Got some new runs to make bringing pressured water from the pump system at the back of the house to the front yard.

I'm pretty sure it's 4m.

Thanks mick, pretty sure it's about 2 x tamlengths as well.
Has anyone seen that hard, grey, schedule 80 pipe about? Most common seems to be the thinner-walled general irrigation grey stuff.

It is definitely 4 meter.
I have to take a hacksaw & cut it in half to get it in my car.

Don't know what schedule 80 pipe is, but back when you could go to global house saw a lot of different pipe, that I wished was around 15 yrs ago. Use to be only 2 different thickness, now at least 3 of the blue pvc. Would hope these places are now open again.
Re: Pipe and conduit lengths
^ Sched 80 has the thickest walls, smaller bore and for higher pressure systems. The grey pvc variant tends to be hard, shiny, molded plastic couplings versus the dull grey, extruded thinner walled stuff. I could use blue pvc but I already have the city water runs for general yard work in blue. The city water pressure is virtually unusable though, only good for topping up the storage tanks really. I reckon if I make my pressured pipework grey and put a locking tap on it, it will look like 'the farang did it" and the residents won't try buggering about with it.
Yes, all the large hardware and home improvement stores are open with just the QR code or visitors book stuff to gain access.

Re: Pipe and conduit lengths
I used the green pipe for all pressurised services into the house and garden after the pump. It is welded together with a small electric machine like HDPE pipe. Easy for a plumber to do a high pressure test prior to use.
All drainage from the house is identified with blue pipe and glued. No pressure flow involved.

Re: Pipe and conduit lengths
All the Plastic Pipe in Thailand uses PN numbers.
PN 16 is good for 16 bar which is as high as you would need.
PN 8 is good for 8 bar which would do the job.
Just make sure you buy the correct PN fittings and some good glue.

I used the green stuff for pressurised hot water. Did it 14 years ago, no leaks!Barney wrote: ↑May 31, 2020, 12:56 pmI used the green pipe for all pressurised services into the house and garden after the pump.
