Water storage report: 1 falang home just down the road from Soi7 spent B35,000 for a well, b25,000 for a well liner, B20,000 pump and fittings plumbing, 3 x stainless steel tanks 3000lt B25,000, raised tank stand, B40,000, electricial work B10,000, Filter B20,000 total water cost for 10,000lts storage, with average 100lt hour pump rate B175,000 no rain water collection from roof.

Aussie boys design, collect rain water from roof of home and carport and verandah, approx 140mt2 of roof area, 1mm of rain will produce 1 lt of water per mt2, x 140mt2 roof area= 140lts

Average water use per person per day personal use and cooking only, (no yard car garden use) 100lts per day x 2 person household x 7 days a week= 1500lt week, Dry season weeks 25 x 1500lts a week usage = total water consumption 38,000lt dry season
Dry season November to end March total rain fall average 70mm x 140lt from roof = 9000lt
Water use 38,000 less rain fall 9,000= 30,000lt minimum storage for dry season for personal use. Water pots as in photo below 2000lt each at B900 total 15 pots.
allow 20% safety factor, not required as water is plentyfull, if run out can pay B100 for 2000lts water delivered, 1 pot full, allow 20 pots to collect rain water,
and 20 pots for yard garden watering washing car ect, total 40 pots.

Cost 40 pots x 900 = B36,000 as it is clean water from roof no need to have filters, but can install if you think needed, water filters treatment stainless steel tank type starts from B10,000 reverse Osmosis. pump and fittings B15,000.

I have allowed for 50 pots on my site to be interconnected, some people wont like having that many pots for space of looks, But with labour and gravel cost I can install 50 pots interconected delivered for B60,000

That's 100,000lts for B60,000 storage cost, so far I have not found and other storage unit cheaper per litre to store water, If thais used rolled corragated iron then that would be the option to use for storage, cheap in australia, they have blue scope steel here but haven't seen a roll machine or steel tank, rolled steel zincalume is cheaper than stainless, and plastic.

So there is another option for water storage, other than dig a well, at B170,00 or B80,000 with pots, the well is more reliable, hopefully, will have to be cleaned out or re drill within 20 years, possible contamination from rice fields chemicals or sewagewater ground leakage. just another option to think about

Costing for a concrete water tank 100,000lts
7mt x 7mt x 2mt
Concrete base 10mt3 @ B1,500mt3 =B15,000
Labour prep base box slab place steel and concrete finish 2days x B1,300=B2,600

Concrete wall blocks 60mt2 @ B250 mt2 = B15,000
Labour 4 days B5,000
steel 16mm x 110 lengths B200=B22,000

paint inside outside tank rubber flexi paint sealer, material and labour B5,000

Roof B600mt2 x 50mt2= B30,000
labour roof B2,500

From this minimum cost would be B95,000 just for a concrete tank, looks like the pots are value for money

During the 1980s, the use of rainwater catchment technologies, especially roof catchment systems, expanded rapidly in a number of regions, including Thailand where more than ten million 2 m3 ferrocement rainwater jars were built and many tens of thousands of larger ferrocement tanks were constructed between 1991 and 1993. Early problems with the jar design were quickly addressed by including a metal cover using readily available, standard brass fixtures. The immense success of the jar programme springs from the fact that the technology met a real need, was affordable, and invited community participation. The programme also captured the imagination and support of not only the citizens, but also of government at both local and national levels as well as community based organizations, small-scale enterprises and donor agencies.

I'am Back, a bit late but ready to start internal fixing, next week

been shooping for prices this week, internal lining and general fixings ETC,

Home Mart V Global house, 2 days getting material list and price, I gone with basic materials, like kitchen, its the Looney Tunes hot plate burner for in side and the Webber bowl type cooker BBQ for the oven, gave the local Quickfire BBQ a look at 16,000 but herself liked the B2,000 Looney Tunes hot plate suites me fine as an old bushie, brought 2 modular SS sink and top for 6,000, photo will come later,

Prices for a western style kitchen cupboard ranged from 150,00 up, not suitable for my style of home and life style, so with some colourfull tiles and the looney Tunes cooker it will be a fun colourfull house, it will match the yellow roof and 2 tone coloubond blue fence.

Now the price for the internal fittings sheeting tiles kitchen electricial wire and board, and some sealer paint, still more to buy.

Global House 112,000 Home Mart 118,000 simular or same products,

I showed the global house price to home mart to beat or match sales assistance said global cheaper, manager on floor said no can do Global is bigger and more buying power, store manager said here girl you go with her and price, so i did and only on a few items were Home mart cheaper.

Will start on tuesday with the wiring installation, plumbing pipes and then the sheeting

3 x carpenters and 2 x laboures B1500 a day have allowed 3 weeks for the internal and yard works fence, hoping to get the patio up as well

From one Aussie to another, liked Udonthani as well. Since returning to Aus after a 4 week stint travelling the Northern areas, have had thoughts of returning and doing the same as you. (one day) Nice job, small but practical, similar to my place here..... just one question..... how about the shed?? (Just pulling your leg mate.)
One thing I am curious about is the electrical setup over there. I am an electrician and one thing I noticed while I was over there, was the lack of earthing or any sign of men system. By the way, live just up the road from you in Brissie ( Bundy)
