Perhaps they should let the Shela's play the ashes instead of "boo hoo" Smiffy, "classless" Paine & co :-"

And give the Pommy men's team an outside chance of winning ..... I don't think so.

Essex? Is Essex important? I think I recall a Minder show where Arthur got into some bother in Essex. 8)

Blimey Statts was a bit of lean spell 1894 to 1979 but they have made up for it since. If only your football team were as productive =;

It was only 85 years.
Toon are waiting for my 100th birfday (2054) ........
don't all good teams have the odd 85 year rest?

Interestingly 1969 (Fairs cup) plus 85 yrs = 2054 (coincidence or worth a bet)

Here's hoping that you are able to hang on just a little longer than Phil the Greek did and that Newcastle come to the party. Coincidentally my football team won their first ever flag in 1954 (formed 1884) which was just a bit before my time. I only had to wait 49 years to see the second in 2016.

We got cups and medals :D 'Winning the flag,' is just a quaint colloquial expression.

It was a little snowy in Leeds yesterday. I would love to come home to the Tropics but, even we supermen from Gods county cant get round the Covid regs. At least I have the most entertaining Football, Rugby and Cricket teams on my doorstep.

Since we are into domestic cricket.
My mighty NSW blues took the Australian 50 over final with ease. WA couldn’t keep with the season front runners.

Barney, Domestic Cricket is at least "on topic" which is more than you can say for 20/20 Internationals etc

I used to go to school with a Bairstow. I think it was his uncle who was the cricketer. His dad owned a sports shop in town & he used to acquire all the Pringle sweaters for us to wear for Leeds games
