Aussie Rules - 2014 Buddy Aweful Start

Post by GT93 » September 17, 2014, 8:16 am

No Carlton lads in the All Aussie team and just one of Buckley's boys. I'll raise my glass of beer to that next time I'm having a session. :D Now I hope I haven't overlooked Hormone Hirdie or Moody Mick being picked as the coach. I'd fall off my chair if that happened.

I thought Brice Gibbs would have made it, but like the Season was not good enough.

ADELAIDE coach Brenton Sanderson has been sacked.

In a statement on the Adelaide website, the Crows said the decision to "part ways" after three seasons came after an extensive review of the club's entire football operations.

The sacking comes despite Sanderson having two years left on his contract.

In his first season in charge in 2012, Sanderson took the Crows to within a goal of the Grand Final - they were beaten in a preliminary final by five points by Hawthorn.

But the Crows finished 11th last season and 10th in 2014.

Chairman Rob Chapman, directors Andrew Payze and Mark Ricciuto, head of football David Noble and Sanderson were involved in the post-season analysis, which came after players, including key forward Taylor Walker, reportedly criticised the coach and some of his assistants in their exit interviews.

"Brenton is a quality person and accomplished coach, but recent weeks have unearthed a need for change," Chapman said.

"Both parties have realised they have different perspectives on where we are at as a footy team.

"It is a tough decision but one the club feels pushes us closer to realising our ambitions.

That's a coach's life. I hope Hormone Hirdie puts in a successful application for the vacant position. Unfortunately the Crows aren't that stupid.

It's now a judge's turn to take centre stage.

Downunder started another thread to bag the supplement cheats. Perhaps we can use that for litigation related chat rather than the actual games.

Pomps is looking extraordinarily Strine to me with his VB can in front of the AFL on the telly. He's cleverly picked up that Aussie voters like voting for pollies born in the UK who in Abbott's case is even an out of the closet anglophile.

Wazza's mob still looking good. Wazza's household might run out of that humble pie in the next week or so.

Footscray Premiers

Post by marjamlew » September 21, 2014, 2:22 pm

The Footscray VFL team got up over the Box Hill Hawks in a great game of footy this afternoon. After being 18 points down 10 minutes into the last quarter the Scray kicked the last 7 goals to get up by just over 20 points. Brett Goodes, younger brother of Swans star Adam, was voted best on ground in what may be an omen for nexy week. Hope some of the kids who played today can take the next step into the AFL side next year.
In the other comp Port Adelaide were extremely unlucky to go down to Hawthorn last night. Makes Wazza's Blood's red hot favourites in the big one next Saturday. I reckon they'll beat Hawthorn by between 30 and 40 points.
