What the guy from Stevenage says is absolutely correct. No team should be relegated if they don't get the chance to save themselves.
No teams should be relegated anyway because even if leagues were to start up again it's not the same as when it started. eg. no crowds, neutral grounds.
At the moment there are 91 teams in the 4 leagues.... 1 short after Bury folded. Let Conference leaders,Barrow, take there place.
West Brom and Leeds could be promoted to increase the EPL to 22 for one season and likewise teams could then be promoted from the lower divisions to make up the numbers.
But no play offs and no relegations.
I think probably up to a dozen teams in the lower leagues will go bust anyway... my local team Macclesfield included.
Really there should be no competitive football anywhere period until this virus has all but finished.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

From the Mail Online: "The Police have informed the Premier League that they have no issues with the majority of matches being played at their original venues.

However, they have raised concerns over the hosting of a small number of high-profile fixtures, amid concerns of supporters gathering outside, and expressed a desire to see them played at neutral sites.

That information is expected to be fed back to clubs at today's top flight meeting, which is ongoing.

Police feel that as long as their costs are covered and clubs provide stewarding to ensure they can deal with potential issues, most matches can be played at their existing stadiums.

But there are fears that key matches – at both ends of the table – may well cause issues should they remain at the original sites.

The final decision is down to the government, in conjunction with the Premier League. However, they are likely to strongly lean on the advice of the police and local safety advisory groups, made up of clubs, emergency services and local authorities.

The move opens the door for the hybrid model – a mix of home and away and neutral venues.

now you mention it DM the regulations do state that the "employer" is required to provide a safe working environment for his/her employees, and where social distancing cannot be maintained then PPE must be provided (presumably masks/gloves and boot covering for footballers)

The statement from Premier League chief executive Richard Masters reads: “The Premier League and our clubs are proud to have incredibly passionate and loyal supporters. It is important to ensure as many people as possible can watch the matches at home.

“We will continue to work step-by-step and in consultation with all our stakeholders as we move towards resuming the 2019-20 season.”

The PA news agency understands new staggered kick-off times will be used for the remaining 92 matches.

Games on a Friday will kick off at 8pm, while on Saturday the slots will be 12.30pm, 3pm, 5.30pm and 8pm.

Sunday matches will kick off at either 12pm, 2pm, 4.30pm and 7pm, with Monday games starting at 8pm.

Midweek games on Tuesdays and Wednesday will kick off at either 6pm or 8pm.

i dont agree with the restart with C19 still so bad in UK ... using words like passionate and integrity is just a smoke screen when we all know ..ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY !! .. LITTLE THOUGHT TO SAFETY , SECOND C 19 WAVE.

All this bollocks about fans .. when by mid June and restrictions eased most will be back to work not larding it on the sofa.

The issue on players contracts has been forgotten as as the views of players like Troy Deaney who spoke up with concerns

terrible decision.

^ Agreed, but why does it take the UK government's deputy CMO's personal intervention?

Isn't the new mantra "stay alert"? How does that and the enduring need for social distancing jive with the crowded early summer English living rooms because the EPL's boss suggests, "It is important to ensure as many people as possible can watch the matches at home."?

The rudderless UK government desperately needs the footie to restart if only to distract from fundamentally more important matters and to stop concerned citizens watching their every "legal and reasonable" moves too closely.

Suppose the rudderless FA needed the ok from the rudderless government .

Good point ..gatherings to watch the footy .. few beers , a takeaway , manly kissing n hugging when a goal is scored ..its party time .

Already been distracted with this sneaky remainer back bench bill to scupper Brexit being slipped thru while Bojo n Dom were laid low..

A few weeks ago the Government stated they wanted the EPL to resume as a morale booster for the country.
However a poll conducted showed that it would not boost the morale for over 70% of the country.
It is all about money and nothing else.
Sorry I can't find the link so hope it doesn't result in a fine or points deduction for me. :D

I dont share your views and feel football should return.
If the survey says 70% dont want it, then 30% do (probably 60% actually dont give a damn). If 30% want to attend a socially distanced Mozart concert then go for it. My snap survey says that 100% of people want football including my 89 year old parents!

We have to start moving on and, if it can be done taking reasonable precautions then, OK
