I just signed out and Joe is leaving the paddock. Three for 11 runs. The Aussies want to win, but we want to see a bit of competitive batting/bowling. A bit sad Ando and Broady are not playing.

I was going to grab the shotgun and head out to the local wetlands and bag some ducks later today. No need too, they just came into the loungeroom.

Anyone up for Ashes for breakfast tomorrow?

Ugly rumor that PF's is gonna be chock-a-block with stroppy Aussies very early tomorrow.
Can't find the bloody remote now.

From the Gabbatoir.

Starc's clean bowling of Burns on the first ball is an Ashes first.

The only previous unenviable and ignominious out was back in 1936 when Worthington was caught by Oldfield off McCormick's first ball. That was also in Brisbane where it also rained afterwards.

All part of the master plan i'm sure. Lead them into a false sense of security early on whilst we get used to playing cricket after so long off, then hit em in the later tests

It seems not all the delicate bowels live in Isaan, statts.

I'm not sure what is more impressive, Travis Head's 100 or 85 balls or Jack Leach's 95no of 60 balls. Both great to watch.

Leach aside, England bowled well. The Aussies played and missed, edged a few and were lucky today. Thats ignoring Englands ineptitude with dropped catches, missed run outs and a wicket off a no ball. Could easily have been out for 200.

That's not to say that England dont deserve to be behind. They batted badly. It's going to be a series dominated by the ball

England got well sh*gged by losing the 2 hrs last night. Bowled well during first session 57/1 but having to keep going for the extra 30 mins to make up for lost time, when your bowlers aren't match fit meant being forced to use spinners who were taken to the cleaners 50 odd in 7 overs.

Cricket 2021

Post by Barney » December 10, 2021, 6:52 am

With my usual totally unbiased comments. Only 1 question today.
How many runs will our tail compile with Head.
No doubt Englands pain will continue of course.
Oh yeah speaking of excuses for bowlers.
Stats for Leach was the 2nd highest runs against in test cricket for someone who has bowled at least 60 pies.
Can’t believe he was worse that Swann

Perth in WA was to host the 5th Ashes test for this season. The WA Premier, Colonel Klink McGowan has kept his border closed unless you wish to do the 14 day quarantine, not good for interstate or international sports with tight schedules. So the cricket fans of WA miss out and the test will be played in Hobart Tasmania.

Great day for test cricket and the series. Malan and Root showing that they are not marshmallows. Great weekend ahead for all supporters. Hope the rain stays away.

Been 9 covid deaths in WA since the start of the pandemic. 146,135 in the UK. McGowan has prioritised life over death and an open economy over a closed economy. Don't think many decent sandgropers will be losing much sleep over 5 days of test cricket given the way the government has managed the pandemic.

Spot on, lew.

I have had no negative feedback from rellies or friends in WA (of any political persuasion), and that would be reflected in McGowan's poll ratings.

Good to see a bit of Bulldog on show today.
