Intercity Bus, route 825 Suvarnabhumi - Nakhon Ratchasima - Khon Kaen - Udon Thani - Nong Khai. Costs about 630 TBT
For further details call: Call Center 0-2576-5599. Or even better, contact directly Udon Thani BKS station for advice and ticket reservation.

This service is very good.

That seems to be a good alternative to flying ,espec. when you have a lot of over weight and can expect a heft extra charge from the airline . Has anybody actually taken this bus ?
Where does it arrive in Udon : the bus station on the ring road or at the station near the complex?
Acc. to the time table the bus leaves the airport at 6 am . When can I reasonably expect to arrive in Udon ?
Another alternative is of course a taxi directly to Udon . The pricequote I got was TBH 6400. That is about 1o times more than the bus !!! However one would not have to wait 6 hours in the night for the bus to leave .
If 2-3 people could pool together -the taxi would be the way to go .
Do you know of anybody who will arrive on th 30th of June at 11.50 PM coming from USA on NWA ?

I took this intercity bus two weeks ago.
Very nice brand new yellow buses (mercedes)
But, be careful, there are only two trips per day: one in the morning and one in the evening!!!!
The bus is NOT leaving at the airport.
You have to take a shuttle bus at the airport that will bring you to the new Bus terminal next to the airport (about 10 minutes drive with the white shuttle buses)
Take the Express Shuttle bus (white buses) This one will bring you from the airport DIRECT to the new bus terminal at the airport.
These bus shuttles are FREE
I only know the time for the evening trip: The bus leaves at 21.00 in the evening in the new bus terminal close to the airport.
But you can always take in this new bus terminal the normal blue VIP buses that will bring to wherever you want.
Also be careful. These new yellow intercity buses have a VERY cold air conditioning!!!!
They give you a blanket, but it is still freezing cold in there.
They also serve you with a kind of lunch packet.
My impression was ok:

How long is the bustrip from the airport to Udon?

I would think 10 hours tops - more likely about 9
Normal buses from Morchit (north Bkk) take about 8 hours and the airport is South Bkk so just guessing at 9 or 10

Hi all,

Anybody know the timetable for the bus leaving from Udon to Suvarnabhumi, and possible also the arrival time in Bangkok? Would it be possible to have a connecting (domestic) flight at 7.35 AM?

I'm going to the bus terminal in the centre, but maybe some off you have some information for me to.

Thanks in advance.

Jörg

Did the round trip in the last month. Yes, its a good service, and the airconditioning is cold. The posted times are subject to some change. First, you can catch the Nong khai bus as well, it stops in Udon. the only buses seem to run at night, so you have the 20:00 to udon and the 21:00 to Nong Khai. These fit in well with all those 18:00 to 19:00 arrivals at the airport. Shuttle service from airport to transportation centre takes about 10 minutes. just walk down platform on arrival at Bus station and stop is near ticket office (buy ticket there).
Return trip a little harder because Udon Central bus station has little of no English signs. you buy your ticket in small office on exit road from bus station (the second office). leaves from stand 5 at 20:30 (easily spotted as yellow and says Suwanaphumi on the front.. Presumably you can also catch slightly later one from Nong khai but it may not come into Bus station at Udon. takes about 8 hours, arrives in time for flights in the morning after 6:00. I was told no VIP bus for this route; but does not mean there isn't one; TIT after all. 418 baht for fare, water and a bit of food not bad. I even managed to sleep a bit.

If he arrives at 7pm in the swamp, tell him to go downstarirs next to the Magic Food Point doorway and there you can find a small transport stall in the building selling tickets to Udon. You can then catch the bus from the terminal, saves the hassle of going over to the bus station.

Beware of the timings i believed they dropped 1 of the services in the evening. Ask in the Udon bus station for the timings.
