We usually buy this sort of thing from the market ready BBQ’d but Mrs N created this. Fish was only 130 baht from the market & was enormous.
I actually quite like the steamed jasmine rice with this dish

Buddy of mine, a retired Navy Seal in his late 50's had a bit of a shock a couple of years ago. Woke up feeling out of kilter, no pain but just a broad discomfort and a lethargy that he hadn't experienced before. He gave it 24-hours to see if it was a lingering hangover but still felt like ratshit so on the third day he went in for tests and a check up. Forty-eight hours later, he had a stent installed and was home that night. Scared the heck out of him. He was height/weight proportionate, no beer gut and a BMI like he had in the forces.

His diet hadn't been too much of an issue before, like most of us, ate what he liked and a normal mix of Thai and farang (and beer) but maybe not too much exercise? Pretty much immediately, he went on a fish-only diet and this steamed fish was what he indulged in twice a day for a month. I must say it's one of my favorites too.

Sounds nasty. Just goes to show stuff like this can just come out of the blue with no warnings. My appendix went pop one night without any warning although I had been feeling intermittently ill for a couple of years before & nothing was found.
FWIW, I like steamed fish too but she did this in the halogen glass bowl thing.
It was thick in salt as is the BBQ ones which can’t be too healthy. I guess the consolation is you’re only eating a small amount which has soaked through the skin

For the best pad thai in town, you can't beat '99 ผัดไท หอยทอดกรอบ' on Soi Nongbua.

Regular is 40 baht but I always go for the blue plate pi-set special at 60 baht.

Sad thing is it don't matter . people try to eat well and die at 20. Other people eat and drink and smoke and live to be 90. I'm overweight, smoke ,drink and enjoy life. But one thing I've noticed ,if you stop being active you'll die . one Truth is a little of what you fancy does you good. Eat a nice salad, have a burger. Everything in moderation .. Except beer, god gives you the right enjoy that as much as you like. It tastes good, makes you feel good and makes a dog look like a fox

Aah yes, slurping beer in a successful social environment. It’s what makes us Brittles British to coin a phrase. That reminds me, anyone seen the MIA texmex waiter?

Oh no not more sad attempts at TeX mex. You need someone Mexican or at least worked in a TeX mex restaurant in Texas . every time I've tried it I can't tell if I'm eating Italian or Turkish food. But anyway served by Manuel with his porn star 70s facial hair would be funny

what is healthy food ?? according to who? so much rubbish been told about food scaring people what they really want to eat ...i do not follow all ,since every person is different so food will influence your health also different , i did have a very close call with the reaper 6 years ago , i knew something was wrong , i could not walk 500m without stopping 5 times with pain in between my shoulder blades ,short breath,my face turning yellow (according to my wife ) , so i was in my home country on visit and did a check there , arthroscopy ,thinking a needed a stent or 2 ?, the result was more shocking , very urgently in need of a triple bypass was the verdict or i could leave any time to go eat rice porridge with my ancestors , this was a thursday and next monday i was successfully operated with a 5 bypass result not 3,doctor confirmed i was very lucky also my hearth was not damaged with all the restricted blood flow before, and for those who want to know , no insurance ,paid cash ..., what i did not know is that it was family inherit , i am subject to high cholesterol levels no matter what , taking anti cholesterol 40mg every day now for life ,so i am still eating anything i like with some restrictions to curb the cholesterol levels ,fe nothing fried in oil ( bought a tefal actifry ) , but still having problems eating raw vegetables (salads) or fruits i hardly eat ..., and also important i eat less, my wife always cook me food 2 people can easy eat , i eat moderate and leave the rest ,not stuffing myself full every meal , also i rarely eat evening times ,(not go sleep with full stomach),my grand mother always said you want to live long ,enjoy your life ,do not make it complicated , try not to solve other peoples problem , feel good in what you do and you will get old ..she died at the age of 102 , i try to follow her advice and also enjoying the one life i did get ,if i can give it another 20 healthy years i will be happy ... ;)

True kopkei ,they say nuts and grains are good for you , but not me .as much as I love musli I can't touch it ,granola the same. Causes great discomfort followed by passing blood ,constipation . but these are supposed to be good for you. I do try to avoid salt and keep my sugar intake low which is hard just after baking a lemon meringue pie .

Pork lard does sound a tastier frying option and the runny egg brekky also sounds like a winner. Also note that if you want a crumbly Oxo cube, stick it in the fridge for a bit otherwise is doesn't crumble and you may get wee lumps of it rather than dissolving evenly in the mix. I managed to make 13 so had 1 as a sampler before 2 each for me and the oldest lad for dinner. Just stuck the other 8 in the freezer. I need to change the oil in my fryer before I do anything else.

God morning kopkie !

Agree 1110%,moderation is ONE key, other is to listen to your body,w´hat makes it feel good..in the long rum..Heritage is another together with some common cense, you will come a long way.BUT what people seems to not care is reading up/get information of all the food that we and our children eat..teaching yourself and your children how to eat.Now with Internet it's easy,if intrested ie not lazy, you can get all the good info you need, okey alot of sorting has to be done first..
We blame it on no time have to work, money first until sh** hits the fan,THEN you just might consider doing something to get in better shape/how and what you need to eat to not have to go thrue surgerys/medication..You still might have to get help from medication.

When was the last time most of us really checked what food we really are stuffing us full of?Get a small scale, learn how much it weighs, how much is 30 gram of Oats, how much is 20 gr of nuts and so own,do it a coulple times and you know how much Carbs,Fats and Protein you get in let us say one dinnemeal contains...Eating "healthy is not easy at all, many scams..learn by yourself is what i think is the right way.

Then you have what bodytype you have, are you a Ectomorph, Endomorph, or a Mesomorph are all diffrent, more info here:

https://www.bodybuilding.com/content/gr ... -grow.html

I'm a Ectomorph for sure,what are you?

Educate yourself then you can hopefully makes better dessions/choises in love...God bless..//Alfie
