Bernard Trink RIP

Post by tamada » October 11, 2020, 6:13 pm

Bernard Trink, one of the most memorable figures in the long history of the Bangkok Post, has passed away at the age of 89.

"Another Trink contribution to the local lingo was “TIT” — “This is Thailand” — which expats still use to explain away anything that baffles them about the country."

Aye, in the early 80's when I first came to Thailand "Nite Owl's column was a must read.He could be seen trolling the Bars of Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza and Patpong, at least so my friends told me. R.I.P. Bernard Trink, I'll raise a glass in your honour for keeping us amused and informed over the decades.

Once a month, he would get on the bus from Ekamai and do a weekend prowl of Pattaya's 'watering holes' and 'chrome pole palaces'. He would always drop by the TQ on Beach on his way down to the then un-named Walking Street.
