I think it proves the others were flukes Statto. You will see I'm never in the frame for winning, proving that my putting sucks. :(

Can anyone give some information on the golf course in Sakon Nakhon such as course condition, length, club house and food and drink? I would appreciate any help.

biscuitz, it depends which golf course you go to, most are usually between 500 - 1500 THB for the day, its customary to tip the caddy (200-300THB) i have forgoten how much the caddy costs but its not much. if you want to join the golf socity, just turn up (look for a big crowd of ferangs) and pay 500 THB one year membership fee. You can pay a one day membership fee which is something like 1/200THB but you mayaswell join. Its a great atmosphere its competative but in a good way nobody cares if your good/bad. A good place to start is the airforce in my opinion or sri tani

Hope that helps!! :D

biscuitz, sorry for late reply, no internet since Sunday. philip just about sums it up. Golf at Sri Thani and Wing 23 comes out at around 800baht, depends on how much you want to tip and drink etc. I would add that if you want to join the society that a current handicap is preferred. If you do not have a current handicap we would like to see 3 cards to evaluate your handicap. We do this to be fair to existing members, so that newcomers do not start on a false handicap.

UDON THANI GOLF SOCIETY RULES

The draw for playing partners at each event will be at 8.45am.
It is requested that you make every effort to be on time. If a player is persistently late you will be at risk of not being allowed to play after arriving.

Scoring.
Score cards are to be exchanged with your playing partner at all events.
Record your own and your partners score. Mark clearly which score is your partners. This should be the only score showing a total of points or strokes.
All score cards must be signed. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.

Preferred Lies.
Due to the less than perfect condition of the courses we play, preferred lies will be allowed at all venues. Preferred lies will only be allowed on the fairway. If you are uncertain where the fairway edge is, consult with a playing partner. If an agreement cannot be reached, play the ball as it lies. The ball is to be placed no further than 6 inches from its original position.
A plugged ball in the rough is allowed to be lifted and dropped, but not cleaned.
If a ball comes to rest in water in a bunker, you may lift the ball and place it within the bunker, outside the water with no penalty. In the unlikely event of this not being possible the ball can be dropped behind the bunker with no penalty.

New Members.
If a new member has a current valid handicap certificate they will be allowed to play on the day and given a temporary membership card.
If the new member does not have a handicap certificate they will be required to provide 3 scorecards, signed by a society member, before they can enter a competition They can play in events, but their score will not be valid in the competition until the 3 cards are returned.

All other Local Rules are to be adhered to along with the rules of golf according to the USPGA and the R&A.

We try to keep it simple and friendly. :D

Yes Philip. Malcolm needed a rest after all the years he organised the Society. Trevor is also on gardening leave. When it came to someone taking over it was a case of everyone else taking a step back and muggings here left all by himself. :D
No, only joking. I offered my services to keep the Society running. To be honest, more work than I anticipated but I'm not complaining.

I'm very close to malcolm and trevor and it was intresting to see what looks like quite a simple job...turns out to be quite difficult.

Always have to be on time, always have to deal with new member (getting membership card) and frankly the hardest part by far is dealing with everyones problems like 'can we tee off early on monday?' 'Can i choose who i go with?' 'can we go to the airforce before sritani next month??' luckily 90% of everybody just gets on wth it, but its amzing how such petty problems turn into big ones...

good luck!! :D

Can anyone tell me if there is a "farang" group playing the 9 hole course in Sakon Nakhon? I will be there in July and looking to meet some fellow golfers.
