Waiting times to pickup your order (DoHome)

Post by fhorst » June 10, 2019, 1:55 pm

How do you guys deal with it??

Sometimes I need to buy stuff at DoHome that is not inside the store, you get it at the warehouse in the Back...

Arch...

You provide a paper to a guy and wait...
Wait sometimes more then 90 minutes for them to getting (partly) order...
Then you need to move to different number and the whole Circus begin again...

Inefficiency and Thai are the same words..
But this...

Waiting over 3 hours to get 5 roof tiles and some iron??

Any Solution for this ----?
Delivery to Phen area is 1500 Baht,
What would be crazy for 1400 Baht order :-)

I just try to avoid next time

If it can't be done, it never happened..

one of the first things i have learned quickly after moving to thailand is that nothing much is going quickly here, surely not in government affairs (amphoe, comtidin, khonsong....) or banks ,do home/global enc..., so patience is the key or try to avoid those places where you lose time the most , fe i hardly go to banks , buy things only in shops where i know it will be more fluent ,calling it more fast would be exaggerated :D , or mostly by on internet ...( a lot cheaper and delivered cod on my doorstep )
if i go somewhere and they tell me peip diow (one moment) i know immediately it will be a moment in Thais time which is way slower than anywhere else ...depending on the situation i will wait or say thanks and move on ,so you will have to get used to doing almost everything on Thais tempo and try to avoid all slow situations if possible ...good luck... ;)

I always find Thai Watsadu to be very quick at getting stuff from the back of the store.
It's just big enough to carry stock of most common stuff and small enough not to be too busy.

Our builders usually use Big Lot as they can get very quick delivery and they only charge about 120 baht for a small truck.

just avoid going between 11h00 and 13h00, because some teams are going to dinner, a lot of farang waiting or not. Go there early !

Big Lot?

New name / store for me!
Must be worth to check-out.

We started out roof buying sheets from DoHome
Strange there are a lot different vendors out there, with all their own colours...
Dark blue can be a lot different...

And waiting for DoHome to get stuff back in store...
That Is a lesson quickly learnt..
No stock, no sell. And never will be re-stock..
Some side skirts are already 6 months in back-order..
We bought at Thaiwatsadu , different colours, but my wife mixed paint till we got it right.
Thaiwatsadu did not have many stock, and now we even are going to paint the blank ones...

Yes... Thai = be patient.
But sometimes.....

We buy as much as we can online.
And sometimes, if the order is big enough, we let them deliver.

It's just so much a waist of time..
What did you do today?
I bought "sktirjw" (what ever")
Rest of the world you would ask:
What else did you do?
In Thai, this can (and will) take a whole day....
555

Just sometimes frustrating.
If it can't be done, it never happened..

Bought all my floor tiles from Big Lot.

Chose the one we liked on display in Global only to be told "no hab" & cannot order in. Bought the display tile & took it off to Thai Watsadu, Do Home, & another one (Home Pro?) only to be told exactly the same, "no hab" even though they had a display tile & no intention of actually doing a bit of work to contact factory.
Dropped in at Big Lot for something else & asked the tile guy about them. He said they didn't stock them but he could call the manufacturer in Bangkok from the little stamp on the reverse of the tile & see what they could do. Called me back a few hours later & said he could get them within 3 days of me placing the order.

Only gripe was they were insistent on B300 delivery charge even though I'd just spent a couple of hundred thousand on materials

LoL.
Yes, also Thai.
You can get discount on your tiles, but no chance they will give up the delivery fee....
Different guy, department, money stream..

I will look at this store soon!!
Thanks all!

Yes, also Thai...,nope ..Chinese ,one of the most difficult people to bargain with , and yes biglot ask for 300 baht delivery cost , even if you live in near proximity , i managed to cancel this fee and get free delivery after a lot of bargaining , i kept these delivery's to a minimum though ,but i bought a lot building material and our home is about 2km from the shop ;)

So they went above and beyond to get what you wanted , in a reasonable time frame , at a price i guess you were happy with , and you gripe about a 300 delivery charge .Me , i would of been over the moon to get what i wanted Ect .
When i built my place , we decided to tile the drive and carport . Shopped around and found the perfect tile at St Mall , but they only had 90 sq meters in stock . We needed 150 sq meters , so after a bit of a discussion the sales person said they would ring around their other branches to see if any had the same
Rang back next day to say he had found some in BKK but a different batch number .
I had suspicions that they would not be exactly the same shade , so we decided to take 75 meters of the Udon ones and 75 meters of the Bkk ones and lay them in like a chequer board fashion , working from different batches at the same time .
My tiler was lest pleased , but it turned out well . Very slight difference When dry , but none at all when wet .
I was so pleased with the service from St Mall , i gave the guy who put himself out a decent tip , but delivery was free .

Yes,
Gripe
noun
INFORMAL
a minor complaint.

You, on the other hand, managed to negotiate some differing colour tiles from a completely different shop with free delivery. Nice, thanks for sharing

Was at Do Home today and bought an extension ladder for the missus to get up on the roof and clean the gutters of bird nests.
Long ladder and the young bloke spent 10 minutes getting it tied correctly with cardboard to stop any damage on the hydraulic lift up Ute cover. Well beyond what I would have done. Slipped. Him20 baht for his effort.

Did you try St Mall when you were looking ? They used to have the best selection of tiles anywhere back in the day .
A little more expensive than Global or Home pro , but far better Quality , and in those days we never had the likes of Home Hub , Do Home , and Big Lot was basically a hardware store that had very little building supplies .
You guys building houses today dont realise how good youve now got it . So , So much choice .

DoHome is a really good shop for be, as long as I do not have to be at the pick-up department at the back of the store.

They have many registers (and need as they are not the fastest) and get their work checked by different people.

Out on the parking lot, they have an excellent team for packing and securing bought products, for free.
And they are skilled, fast and careful

Big lot...
I was there with my lady.
They have a few more "specialised" items, but overal i was disappointed with their collection.

We decided to go to Thaiwatsadu again.
Thaiwatsadu do have good system in their "pick-up" department, they go at good speed.
Downside is that they don't care about your car or de goods.
My car was badly damaged, and several goods you can put in the trash when you get home.

Time those 2 stores start working together :-)
Keeping the speed of thaiwatsadu, and the carefulness of DoHome :-)
(But I am afraid that we get de slow and the recklessness 555 )
If it can't be done, it never happened..

My experience with Thaiwatsadu and all the other stores has been, that as long as I supervise the loading so that if there is a damaged product it is instantly replaced and that the loading doesn't put fragile items in a place where thy can be damaged, that I have never had a problem.

After all once you leave the yard if there is anything wrongly tied down it's your responsibility.
