Wow! That's pretty impressive. Looking forward to seeing what the prices are and the quality of the restaurant. If competitive (in price) with similar hotels in Udon, this might spark some improvements in existing facilities.

If so, not a bad location. Quite a stroll to the Complex and Udon Town & the nightlife area, but certainly plenty of food places around the park...

A very nice place to stay indeed, looking at the pictures it will have:
Six different types of bedroom to choose from, with at least 3 different types of bathroom,
Two different sitting room layouts to choose from, for the suite rooms I suppose,
Plus it looks like an apartment is going to be available with a very big dining room, breakfast bar and fully fitted kitchen with glass walls.
I must say well done to the designers for giving the customers so many choices.

No,, the Thai Intercontinental Hotel in Bangkok was a Thai hotel of excellence and design,,,, representing Thailand to the world with grace and ambiance. This latest monstrosity is a vanilla imitation of any building anywhere.



"Built on 26 acres of Sra Paduma Palace gardens in the 1960's, the Siam Intercontinental Hotel was a well-known Thai landmark. It won an award from the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment for its environmental protection work in 1999. However, when the hotel's 30-year lease expired, it was torn down to make way for another shopping center. The 26-acre gardens were reduced to a few acres."

The artists impressions of the Prajaktra look fantastic.A city like Udon is crying out for a really top class hotel.Khon Kaen has the Pullman but in Udon hotels like the Centara,Charoen and Ban Chiang are OK but functional really.I believe that the Napalai has a new owner and manager and is hoping to be transformed into a top class hotel by the end of the year.
But back to the Prajaktra.....yes,its out of the city centre but in a great location overlooking the lake.You can bet that when it opens there will be a fleet of saamlaws positioned outside,anyway !
Good news also for Good Everything restaurant with all the potential customers staying next door.You might also find that one or two more farang orientated restaurants might spring up nearby.....possibly even Nutty Park 2 for the discerning single gent !
But it will be very interesting to see what the room rates are....

The last time I stayed in the Grand Chareonsi hotel, now known as the Centara Hotel, the carpet smelled of cats urine and the whole place was overall cheesy. It made me itch. So the Prajaktra Design Hotel will beat it's competitors hands down. I expect the rates will be $100+ for the new Hotel if it's as good as it says.
Centara will bounce back with a long overdue refurbishment of their place I should think. I must say that the lunch buffet at the Centara has improved since the change, along with the price, but still worth a visit mow and again.

That is really impressive and the rooms are really a perfect place of relaxing. This coming vacation I am planning to have some vacation in other places and stay in a good hotel like in this thread.

Its open now but not finished. You will get a 50% discountduring the "soft opening period".

The rooftop bar should be nice (nice view) when it opens. The rooms don't have a nice view. It will be hard to access during Songkran.

The prices of their buffets are OK for a special meal out if they have good quality and selection: Breakfast-180, Lunch-240, and Dinner-320.

The internet room rates are on the high side for Udon, so hopefully, they'll make sure their customers get good value for the money.

I'm also looking forward to a visit to the rooftop.

Stayed here for a few days in July. Lovely hotel and the first proper hotel Ive stayed in in Udon Thani. It makes Centara look like a dump, which it is! As previous poster said it a little further out but for me well worth it.
