Streuth. He would be an interesting bloke to hang out with. Who would be close to his modern equivalent? By modern let's say playing sometime during the last 10 years. Perhaps Michael Voss is the closest?

I think the Cats, Hawthorn, Freeo and Port will be the top 4 this season. Melbourne, Brisbane, Carlton and the Bulldogs the bottom 4. All the other teams might make the eight. It's difficult to make the eight now that the Giants and Suns are competitive. There's a lot of traffic and tipping isn't getting easier. I might be reading too much into the Giants win over the Swans.

I fancy the Hawks today but history warns me not to put any money on this game. And finally I hope the Bombers smash Collingwood on Friday.

GT93, There was only one E.J. no one comes close to that mans ability. Center Half Forward, Center Half Back, on the ball he was Mr. Football. Was a good kind man away from footy with a big heart, helped many, had long arms and short pockets.

I had heard the name and I read up on him on Wikipedia before making my post. I thought I was flattering Voss.

According to Wikipedia as a youngster Whitten tried out for Collingwood and they told him to come back in a few years when he had greater body strength. Within 12 months he was playing for Footscray his preferred team and he was a key member of the 54 Footscray premiership team. Wikipedia says he kicked a goal with his first kick in VFL football.

I bet he had some good stories.

Easter Monday and not much to do. I see the old eye gouger, Chris Judd, has quickly been injured again. His career must be drawing to a close this year. Because he plays for Carlton I can't say any kind words about him. The good news is his injury worries mean it's more likely that Carlton will finish in the bottom 4 despite picking a coach who was supposed to be taking them to a premiership. Carlton and Malthouse - a match made in their opponents' heaven.

I welcome any stick against Essendon, my club. I'll probably agree with it unless you criticize Dustin Fletcher or Matthew Lloyd. Both top blokes.

Great game of footy today. Two brilliant sides and such hard fought, close and tight footy. If both sides make it to the last Saturday in September it will be, as Bruce says, "special."

Downunder, l watched a doco yesterday called the Barassi years or something similar and he recounted the story of when E.J and himself were away on state duties and for some strange reason Ronald Dale ended up outside his hotel room door with no clothes on and when he knocked on E.J's door for assistance, E.J was purported to have said to Ronald Dale, "l would like to help you Barras, but before l do l would like to clear up a misunderstanding, who is Mister Football?

At least the Lemon passed the breath test wazza. The Sydney Roads and football grounds appear to be causing him some problems. Alastair Clark isn't an idiot. I think he knew the Lemon wasn't as good as many thought.

Rohan Connolly reckons Collingwood should beat Essendon this round. I fear we'll get another crappy performance from Essendon. Port Adelaide is against Geelong. It will be a good test to work out how good Port is this season.

St. Kilda plays Brisbane in Wellington. I think the AFL is right to be testing the waters in NZ. Nowadays too many kids playing rugby union are frigging enormous. So many parents don't want their kids playing rugby.

While the St. KIlda Brisbane game is in Wellington the AFL rightly seems to be making its main push in NZ into Auckland. I hope Brisbane lifts its game on ANZAC Day. Some one sided rubbish won't be helpful.

As usual Caroline W (a great Victorian) digs up the dirt on the lemon and his driving:

Good on St. Kilda playing in NZ:

http://www.theage.com.au/sport/new-zeal ... zqya5.html

They should play most of their games in Auckland. Auckland has 3 times the population of Wellington and the local Aussie Rules is much stronger up here.

Can't believe what I'm seeing. Effin St Kilda are about to do it to me again and make it six out of six.

Game not over but Brisbane are giving them a hiding. AND after an hour of procrastination I tipped, St Kilda, the lazy pricks. I need to see me shrink!!!

YEP. the effin Saints did it to me again, just going out to get me 3 metres of rope.

BTW - Been carrying it around in the back of the car for years - It's available on lease to any Farang wanting to top himself. Must be returned clean and we will need a current credit card before the rent can be finalised. :-"

Dero, it could be worse for you if you supported Carlton like I do. Keep the rope handy.

Dero as a doggies supporter I feel your pain. Carlton supporters wouldn't know Downunder as you've won 8 flags in my lifetime. Remember who John Elliott was talking about when he mentioned, 'dismal histories? '

I think some Bombers supporters are going to want the rope before the end of the season as well. You'll pick the Saints game correctly next week Dero. They're going to get their arses kicked.

8 flags makes you seem ancient marjamlew. I better look into that.
