HI Guys and Gals
calling on your invaluable knowledge to advise me of the best way to go about buying a shipping container for our big move to udon in 2016.
Can anyone recommend a company or is it better to rent?
Any past experiances good or bad would be welcomed many thanks

This will undoubtedly be a very difficult process for you if you intend to attempt to 'do it all' yourself.
The usual route is to contact a number of different International Moving companies & get quotations for the complete process.
They will then provide the necessary cartons to pack your items & deal with the 'house to house' transportation. Including the very necessary customs clearance at both ends.
For an individual to attempt to do this would be a very fraught task I believe.

It will be worth your while reading this thread as it contains all sorts of tips & experiences about moving personal items into the Udon area.

Just a thought. It would bee a good idea from this point forward to collect any receipts for products you intend to send in the container.

Thailand has a very high custom import duty and you may well end up with a huge bill.
Keeping the receipts for proof of purchase and age of product may help.

A quick search on the net looking for cost calculations on import duties threw up a number of links including
http://thailandtax.com/duty-rates.html & http://www.dutycalculator.com/country-g ... -Thailand/

SCo definately worth doping some homework early on

Drop me a pm , call or line rodders ... i can give you some accurate info ... and some contacts to deal with directly , as pointed out already this issue is a minefield and customs rates do vary massively depending on the item(s) arriving .
