Yes he is probably the right guy along with the old crew, but you must remember the big boss of Hormones crew is none other than the head honcho of Toll plenty of money each way and knowing Mick the highest bidder wins every time.

I think Downunder everybody acknowledges the Hawks good win against the predictions of many of the experts.

Nobody remembers 2nd and i agree so who would remember 10th.

Better luck next year.

Great thread for this year and i have only one thing to say

Thrashed by a Buddy good opposition.

Hawks in Tassie this week and expect some crowds there for sure.

I see Wazza that they are going down to Tassie on Wednesday. Last year they went on the Monday and apparently most of the players were either still pissed or hungover to the extent that they were not as sociable as they may have been to their major sponsor and her locals.
Most one sided grand finals are boring, unless of course you follow the team who wins, but for me, the brand of football Hawthorn played yesterday was so pure and perfect (against an outstanding and in form opposition) that I was spellbound for the whole four quarters.
I've enjoyed the thread and the Buddy aweful start had the bloody amazing ending.

Good God, I have an Ally. Equal with Hirdies Hormones 16 a piece. Good of us to let the lower battlers catch up. With a bit of luck we could finish ninth next season.

I couldn't bear even watching all the first 3 quarters live. I won't be watching any replays. Still I salute the Hawks of 2014. A great era to be a Hawks supporter.

I'd be surprised if Carlton, Collingwood or Essendon make the eight next year. :D :D :(

Tend to agree with you GT, but would like to think that if Carlton recruit well then we could finish ninth, and with a bit of luck to win the close ones as we failed to do we could scrape in. As for Collingwood, I could not care less. Essendon with the Drugs scandal may take its toll with the players, especially if suspensions are given. I hope not, I feel for Jobe Watson and his Brownlow Medal, just because someone tried to play God. Will the Swans fully recover from their poor performance?. All will be revealed in SIX MONTHS.

Yes, I think it's going to be very crowded around 8 and 9th next year. Both the Suns and Giants will be chasing a top eight spot. I think both the Hawks and Sydney will again be excellent teams. I'd love to see Wayne Carey's old team step up a notch and also for the Doggies to jump 4+ places. How likely are Richmond to start the season well? They're also going to struggle with the Suns and Giants improving. Fingers crossed the Bombers can field a team.

I see the Bombers aren't appealing their court case. Their legal bill must be a factor. McKenna has got the boot and Thompson might be heading to the Suns. He might fancy trying to take them all the way in three years to a premiership. I reckon his departure might see more players leave Essendon.

COX DECLARATION!!!!!.
RETIRED West Coast champion Dean Cox suspects at least 10 Eagles players experimented with drugs during the club's infamous fall from grace last decade.

Although much of the focus of West Coast's off-field shenanigans during 2006-07 focused on Ben Cousins' drug addiction, Cox said the issue stemmed far deeper than just one player.

Cox revealed the off-field dramas reached such a climax that it forced then-coach John Worsfold to call each player into his office to ask them directly whether they were either using or had previously experimented with drugs.

"I don't know the exact number of players who answered in the affirmative ... but I suspect it was in double figures," Cox wrote in his autobiography Iron Eagle, which was released this week.

Cox admits the turmoil caused some fractures within the player group.

"That's why it took so long to get all the players back on board," Cox said at his book launch on Wednesday.

"The majority of the players were down one way, and there were a few down another path.

"We were there for team success, and you can't do it while doing a number of things the player group were going through.

"Throughout '06 and '07 there became a real issue where things were privately done.

"Everyone was so stuck to themselves. And then from there it really came to a head where things were really affecting the football club."

Cousins was sacked at the end of 2007 after his drug use spiralled out of control, while other players were put on notice that their careers were hanging by a thread.

Cox played a vital role in turning the culture around, and his influence on the field was just as crucial as West Coast went from wooden spooners in 2010 to preliminary finalists a year later.

The 33-year-old, who retired at the end of this season, will be remembered as one of West Coast's all-time greats after producing a career that spanned 290 games and included six All Australian guernseys.

Cox will now embark on a coaching career, but knows he's not ready for a senior position just yet, ruling out the prospect of applying for the vacant posts at Gold Coast or Adelaide.

The premiership ruckman said rival clubs had tried to talk him out of retirement to play for them next year, but he couldn't bring himself to take up their offer.

"I'm still a footy romantic and love the idea of finishing playing at one club," Cox said.

Cox is hopeful of finalising a deal with the Eagles soon to become a full-time assistant coach with them next year.

I HOPE HIRD GETS HIS MARCHING ORDERS

Essendon coach James Hird
RelatedBomber may leave Dons, denies rival interest
LAWYERS for James Hird are preparing to lodge paperwork for a Federal Court appeal on Thursday morning as the coach breaks ranks with his club over the supplements scandal.

Essendon has decided it won't appeal Justice John Middleton's emphatic judgement in favour of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) and its investigation into the club's 2012 supplements regime.

The latest drama has again plunged the club into turmoil as players, staff, supporters and sponsors gather at Crown Casino for Wednesday night's Crichton Medal dinner.

Click here to follow Essendon’s Crichton Medal night from 7.30pm AEDT

It's understood Essendon's board will wait for Hird's legal team to formally lodge paperwork, before assessing the state of play.

With Hird heading down his own path, the club could be left with no choice but to stand its coach down. He is contracted for two more seasons.

The divide between the club's administration and its coach was evident following crisis talks on Wednesday afternoon, where some senior players were also in attendance.

Asked if Hird's position had become untenable, chief executive Xavier Campbell was far from committal.

"We need to sit down with James tomorrow, and certainly as a board we need to sit down later this week and determine what the next steps will be," Campbell told Channel Seven.

Hird left the meeting saying he thought his position was fine.

"I think so, I hope so anyway," Hird said.

"I haven't had a chat to Paul (Little) today, but I think everything's OK.”

Further complicating matters is Mark Thompson's situation.

The 2014 stand-in coach has been linked to Gold Coast after Guy McKenna's axing on Wednesday, but it's believed Thompson is due to fly overseas in the coming days for a long-planned holiday.

Chairman Paul Little is expected to address the situation in his speech at Wednesday night's dinner.

It remains unclear whether ASADA can or will re-issue show-cause notices against 34 past and current Bombers players while Hird goes through the appeal process, considering the club itself has accepted the court's original decision.

ASADA had previously indicated it would re-issue the show-cause notices, and provide players with a summary of evidence, once the appeal period had expired.

AFL.com.au has approached ASADA for comment.

Cox is either embellishing his story to sell more books, or he's a dirty little *****. You don't discredit your club by bringing up these sorts of things long after it's all finished. Typical Footballer, big body small brain ....

In Bomber Thonpson's just completed speech at the best and fairest awards he stated that he would like to stay at the club if they retain him as head coach. Not looking good for Hirdy. Board meeting tomorrow morning.
So today I have heard that Bomber has the senior coaching job at Gold Coast - Footscray and Adelaide and he has just made a speech to the faithful saying he wants to stay at Essendon.
Silly season!

Oh boy. Fantastic news. Hormone Hirdie might be out on his arse today. High fives. And Caro has had another go at him.

I think it's in the public interest and interesting to the public to hear from Cox, Ardie. I don't think it's that dirty for the club. Life as an AFL footballer would be tremendously stressful and the players need to be mentally and emotionally very strong across many fronts. Most of us have some sympathy for players with personal problems. Cripes even Wayne Carey seems to have been forgiven and I have no problem with that. But it might take me 20 plus years to lighten up on Hormone Hirdie.

Big day today (Thursday).

The Club is bigger than the individual.

Placebo Paul will win over Hormone Hurd.

Hurd will resign. Take a package, write a spill it all book to pay for his legals , go on the speaking circuit for a year. Send his Missus back to work to keep the cash flow coming in.

Cant see him getting a position or role within footie in the forseeable future.

Probably end up with a ban anyway.
