Nespresso
Anyone tried "Nespresso"?
I was reading a detective novel. The protagonist was offered a cup of "Nespresso". I had never heard of it before?
I was in Villa today, didn't see any on the shelves.

Guess you need a "special" coffee brewer to make it?

Re: Nespresso
Yes it has its own machine which accepts the Nespresso pods, very common in the UK, but expensive to keep buying the refills, it actually makes a passable cup of coffee. Becoming popular in some high end hotels.i have been looking for ESE pods, I want to try them in my new coffee machine, which has the dual option of ground coffee or the ESE pods. Possibly get them in Bangkok or Pattaya.
Re: Nespresso
My youngest son in the UK has one for a few years now & they certainly do make a great cup of coffee.
If you like milk with your coffee though it is best to buy one of the what they call Aeroccino as well as the coffee maker. That whips your milk into a foam to add to the coffee.
Certainly not as messy as using traditional grounds..
Expensive, but not if you compare to the price of a similar cup of coffee in somewhere like Starbucks..

Re: Nespresso
I have been using the Nespresso system for around five years. It makes a good coffee, with not too much effort and minimal cleaning.
You can normally buy Nespresso pods on line however there are many manufacturers making pods compatible with the Nespresso system that are also available on line and much cheaper.
I have a milk froffer with mine however I prefer a flat white coffee so I Nuke a little milk in the microwave then put a couple of shots of coffee on top

One.of the huge environmental disasters of this decade.
Millions of tonnes of used pod cartridges in landfill that dont break down.

Bit over the top Waz. drilling holes in the ocean floor may do a bit worse than an aluminium pod.

I recycle my instant coffee jars ..... dozens of uses for them
Re: Nespresso
My brother had a coffee pod machine. It offered convenience....as in, put in a pod, push a button, out comes your coffee. Take out the old pod, put in a new, push a button, etc. For a single guy/gal who's on the run, I suppose the $0.65+ my brother was paying per cup beats buying a $2.00+ Starbucks on the way to work.stattointhailand wrote:I should think so to ..... can't image too many people being happy if they had to pay them.BobHelm wrote:They free recycle them for you in the UK. On the subject of instant coffee jars....a true story: Fifteen or so years ago I took the American children of a family in town to Ban Chiang Museum. They found it quite boring. I asked if they'd ever been to a Thai temple...."no"......so I took them to the temple next door to the museum. After we did some incense, candles, and bowing we walked around the grounds of the temple. As we walked, I noticed in the pillar of every section of wall was a Nescafe Gold jar with the label removed. Every pillar! And every jar was full of the bones and ashes of a deceased town resident. And that turned out to be the highlight of our visit to Ban Chiang!
