No please,no more Xmas songs.every shop you walk into has got bloody jingle bells and bing crosby ringing out this sht.its ok for Thais as they are half deaf and ain't had to listen to it every year for 50 odd years like myself.call me a miserable sod or what ever but the only thing I like about Xmas is when it's over for another 9 -10 months.

When you get fed up with "O Cum my old faithfull" and "I wish it could be xmas every day" from Wizzard or "Merry xmas everybody" from Slade you can move on to ANY of the worst 12 listed here ..... and I can think of a few others messrs Matthis & Richard

It’s a great topic Vlad, but you know how it is....

1, Fairy Tale of New York, Kirsty MacColl and the Pogues
2, Stop the cavalry, Jona Lewie
3, The Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth, Bing Crosby and David Bowie

I love Christmas and there are really so many songs that make me think me think back to when I was a kid, making me feel a bit homesick lol

Jeez guys, the first year I was here for xmas, I was over the moon ........ provided you avoided Robinsons you didn't have to listen to Johnny *riggin Mathis with his bl**dy child gettin' born a zillion times. I didn't get me fingers (and balls) frozen every time I needed to venture outside to visit the shops or bar. I didn't have countless relatives sending me cards, which tradition and custom required me to pay the post office a fortune to send a card in reply. I didn't have to put up with relatives visiting. wishing everyone a merry xmas and happy new year and smiling whilst wishing they were somewhere else (which thankfully they were for the other 360 odd days a year).

I thoroughly enjoy xmas here now ..... low key, not rammed down your throat in every shop and on every TV station, still exiting for the kids (include the Mrs in that) without all the must do, must do, must do ......... If I cant be bothered to make a cake or mince pies, so be it, nobody has a heart attack at the thought that I have failed in my xmas duties, they are just thankful for any small gifts they receive, and any wishes that they know are meant rather than just a few joined up words, which after all is what xmas should be about  :sleepy: :fart:

Each to their own Statto I guess, to me Christmas isn't about presents and food as such, it's more about my family getting together, traipsing around the east end markets seeing everyone in the christmas spirit but buying nothing and yep even listening to Mr Mathis every now and again. Absolutely agree about the freezing cold though, I don't miss that. I've made it as Christmassy here as I can, I've decorated the apartments and put up lots of lights, it's a bit like a mini Vegas but it's still not like home, perhaps I'll go back to England next year.

For me, it's got to be something from Handel's "Messiah," written whilst he was on a rowing boat between Parkgate on the Wirral and Ireland. Takes me back to my choir-boy days at Moreton Parish Church, oh aye and we got decent tips at this time of year. Nostalgia ain't what it used to be!

Not everyone likes n looks forward to Christmas .. and DM most certainly falls into this category for numerous reasons ...

BAH

Image

BACK ON TOPIC .. As for the music theme i recall Band Aid when all the ""stars"" came out and sang for Africa ..GREAT CAUSE and the start of this kind of way of raising awareness and cash for those who need it most .. =D> =D>

Band aid was quite apropriate title as a band aid over the ears was the best way of not having to listen to its constant and relentless playing back then ...BAHA HUMBUG AGAIN

DM

Sleigh Ride - The Ronettes
I believe in Father Christmas - Greg Lake
8 days of Xmas - Destinys Child

Our little granddaughter is approaching 3 and this will be the first Xmas she understands.
An expensive time for Grandad.......anyone heard of "Anna" and "Frozen" ??

Bitches Brew - Miles Davis

Ninth Symphony - Beethoven

Workingman's Blues - Bob Dylan

These are among the music that I will be playing - so that should qualify them as Christmas songs

In no particular order;
Chris Rea ~ Driving home for Xmas
Ryuichi Sakamoto ~ Merry Xmas Mr Lawrence
Johny Mathis ~ It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
A pessimist see’s a difficulty in every opportunity,
A optimist see’s an opportunity in every difficulty,
I am the latter.
