Wont be a problem Mick
IO just likes giving the run around
Think makes them feel big and powerfu
If I get it, they can feel as powerful as they want.
Pretty much a done deal, Mick. Once they accept your paperwork, never heard otherwise, but maybe the "So Called Authority", STWW will chime in.

With all due respect STWW.
As I said A visa is never/can never, be extended.
I think you are confusing the issue some what! I have been in Thailand since 2001 on one form of Non Immigration VISA or another including "B" with work permit.

My last was a 12 Month multiple entry Non "O" Immigration "VISA" issued out of Brisbane in 2011. I have been extending that "VISA" ever since. Through any sort of language 'permission to stay' is an extension as such the application form, TM7, calls it an Extension!
I am not confused nor am I confusing the situation, that’s what you are doing

A VISA is never extended.
A VISA can never Be extended.
A VISA Gives permission to enter Thailand (subject to the IOs discretion)

On entering Thailand (if you have a single entry visa) it is marked as used. You are given permission to stay
Your permission to stay can be extended.
Your permission to stay Is not a visa
Your permission to stay Is not an extension of a visa.

Sorry you are still confused
my visa is still valid because it has an extension of stay for 60 days
It is a visa got from HCMC last year in March 2019 a visa not an extension to stay
still confused look at the passport page I posted a visa not an extension to stay
If I dont extend they will say my visa expired not my extension to stay has expired

you can write this a thousand times and some guys still don't get it.
but in fact - it's the basic knowledge for a foreigner staying in thailand.
maybe we should call it "the holy immigration prayer".

In this passport which I got and have been using since 2016 there is only one extension to stay in it
That is the one I got yesterday
All the rest are visas and border stamps
My previous passport probably has extension to stay as I jumped thru the hoops once
I decided not to re extend that extension but go back to yearly visas which last 15 months without an extension
just doing 90 day border runs which give a border stamp
ie no extensions

I got told due to the amnesty coming into place after I got that special 15 day visa that I did not need to get the further 15 day extension that I was due to get Last month so I did not bother to get it but now a visa company is telling me If I want them to get me a longer visa to stay in the country I need to go and get the 15 day extension first? Is this true and if so will I be charged overstay?

Posted Thursday at 10:06 AM
I think the agency is correct. You have to have a valid permit to stay date.
Posted Thursday at 10:13 AM
The agency is correct.

The "Under consideration" is not a valid and confirmed extension as it is still under consideration.

You will need to receive the second 15 days to make your stay valid again so you can use the amnesty till 31 July.

(as long you where in the country with a valid visa/extension on 26 Match)

https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/116799 ... t-15507288

Read some of this to understand there visas and extensions to stay
but you need a valid visa first

Oh well I got my O visa and it is extended for 60 days for me to stay till I get my extension for a year
Then i will be doing 90 day reports instead of 90 day visa runs
Funny that
and at the moment I dont need insurance that IO requires for other visas
bad word that 4 letter word " visa "

Just be warned IO requires a new Kor ror 2 for 60 day extension and then another new one for yearly
As they say only valid for 7 days

If the visa expires I am pretty sure you cant get an extension
The visa is irrelevant to getting an "extension of stay" there are people whose visa expired many years ago.

The visa only allows you to enter Thailand.

So by your misguided thoughts I should do nothing till July 31
I have never said that. If you go back through all my posts you will see I have been saying the exact opposite.

Luckly I did what i think was right
You did exactly as I have been suggesting is the correct action if you wish to stay long term in Thailand

Now on the IO guide No2 is Photo copies of passport complete with copy pages that have anything to do with the current visa, re-entry visas and arrival stamps current TM 6 slip

You may notice not expired visa
Immigration is known for using inexact or even incorrect English.

There is no "re-entry visa" there is a re-entry permit.

The one thing you got right is the 60 day is a extension of stay, the 60 days are counted from the end date of the 90 day border stamp not the day the extension was given,so thanks for making me look and check the date
This is standard and almost all (but not all) extensions add on to the time originally given

This is a visa. It died on the 31 March 2020.
It is expired, it is dead, it is no more, it is an ex-visa, it's passed on, it's kicked the bucket.

Pretty picture of your extension to stay
I dont have that one
You still dont get it
If I had not done 60 day extension of my visa come July 31, I would at the moment have no visa
and be required to go and get a new visa
All you are doing is playing with words

I got my first 1yr extension of stay on Non O marriage visa on Wed, (pending acceptance)

All went fairly smooth except that they wanted the family witness, (A thai national with ID and House book,
that knows me etc), to be present at the immigration office?
This was a surprise to me as I thought they only had to be present at our home when Immi come visit.

Couldn't do it that day, as the person was not available.
They accepted someone else the next day with proviso of new update bank book and letter.
This is a standard requirement for every marriage extension, they sometimes ask for 2 witnesses on the first extension.

The witness must not be a family member.

The home visit is not always at your home, for us it was in the nearby town in a friends restaurant. They will require a witness, it can be someone different to the one who went to immigration with you. They will call to arrange a time. The visit is from a different group of immigration police to the ones who do your extension.

So, next year, do I have to submit all same docs, and photos' again?

It is you who misunderstands the situation.

I am not playing with words. I am using them correctly.

You do not have a visa (assuming the visa in the picture was the one you used to enter in March) it expired. You have not had a visa since April.

A VISA is never extended.
A VISA can never be extended.
A VISA Gives permission to enter Thailand (subject to the IOs discretion)

On entering Thailand You are given permission to stay
Your permission to stay can be extended.
Your permission to stay Is not a visa
Your permission to stay Is not an extension of a visa.

It is not clear what the situation will be once the amnesty finishes (it may be extended beyond July 31st)

People are being told by some immigration offices that they can apply for extensions even though the current permission to stay stamp is expired, they are saying that all permissions to stay are read as running to the end of the amnesty and that extensions will run from then.

This is not clear and not something to bank on if you wish to stay long term in Thailand

Yes, the 2 witness requirement is variable, I need 2 some are OK with 1.

The photos need to be new ones, yes you need exactly the same 2 sets of documents (new KR2) the 2nd set can be copies apart from the pictures. You will need a witness next year as this year. You will need to copy the extension stamp you receive this year as well.

Good day all. If i may change the subject for a second. Thursday morning at about 10:30 am, i went for my 90 day reporting, no one waiting at the visa section, same at the 90 day reporting desk. IO very polite. They sell cake ( kind of custard ) pretty good 20 B each. In and out in 4-5 min.

No worries,
Done it once, be easy next time.
Might even take two witnesses in with me, to be sure

Thanks for the advice.

That's why I love this forum.
Plenty of helpful advice when you need it.

I just gotta stay out of the politics threads.
Way too emotional for some.
