AS my multiple re-entry visa expired in March
and my 90 days ends on June 15th, if I had not resuscitated my visa with the 60 day extentsion
I would not be able to apply on that visa for the yearly visa extentsion
even though I can stay till the end of July
So techinally my visa and all your visas are valid if you have done your extentsions on time
You are wrong, you have no visa.

I have no visa.

Probably Jacksprat has no visa.

Just to be clear, when I went to Udon Immigration on May18th for my extension of stay and changing from "reason of Retirement" to "reason of Married to a Thai National" (my original visa in 2010 was Non-Immigrant O-A), I was told by the good Captain that my one year extension would have to start as of that date and not my current extension's expiry date of June 18th. Therefore, I have lost a month on the extensions, but that is fine with me since I can change to a marriage extension and avoid the need to show proof of health insurance had I extended based on Retirement. If I were extending for reason of Retirement, then the new extension would have started on June 18th.
I did not mention that as noosard can not understand the fact that a visa is not an extension of stay.
That there is only one kind of visa available in Thailand, that he is not eligible for it and that even if he were it would be immediately marked as used when it was issued.

I am well aware of the point that changes to the reason for the 1 year extension will reset the extension of stay period, not add on to the existing period.

It is worth while making the point as others may not know of it.

Strange IO ask to have copy of this non existant visa
actually 2 copies and the orginal to be shown
must be a misprint on their advice pamphlet (Application for visa extension)

nossard knows a visa is not an extentsion to stay it is actual a visa
your extentsion of stay is based on what visa you held ie non O retired, non O marriage etc
Time you got a new copy

So with your infinite wisdom how do you explain the wording of the TM7 form you submit every year (assumed).
You are claiming for me something I never do, but thank you.

Which words are you referring to?

Do you mean ( I hereby apply for extension period of temporary stay in the Kingdom for……………days. ) ?
OK, no point in communicating with this guy!

What sort of reply is that? HOW do you stay here year by year without filling out a TM7 application? If it's by any other sort of means makes you NO EXPERT.

You're not on the same planet as the people with any kind immigration/visa knowledge eg. ubonjoe, lopburi3 etc. Of ThaiVisa fame.

Don't need BS comments like that.

As far as I'm concerned this whole thread is not a joke!

Immigration is known for using inexact or even incorrect English.

I have never said that the visa did not exist, you are claiming for me things I have never said. I did say is that the visa is (in almost all cases) expired

Of course the visa existed, you would not be given permission to stay or an extension of your permission to stay unless you had entered with the visa (or had one issued by Thai immigration)

An extension of stay is based on your personal circumstances, not the reason you gave to get a Non-O or Non-OA (as semperfiguy has just posted) you can change between reasons each year if you want.

FWIW permission to stay and admitted until are synonymous

The reply is a quotation from the TM7 that I filled in a couple of months ago (Application for Extension of Temporary Stay in the Kingdom), I never claim to be an expert.

Now we are using synonymous wording

Immigration is known for using inexact or even incorrect English.
So they print erroneous wording
Would think they understand visa and extension
Now synonymous might have them stumped

Had my scheduled visit this morning from Thai Immigration, for my 1yr extension of stay
Two very friendly gentlemen turned up, one did all the writing and the other did all the talking.
He was very smart and knowledgeable, and spoke English quite well.

I explained that I needed the extension as I did not want to be forced to fly out within the 7 days notice to be given when the borders open, mainly due to my concern that the government had not finalized re-entry conditions yet, and that, when I leave, I need to know when I can come back so as not to be away from the family for too long.
He understood wholeheartedly, no problems at all.

He was quite versed with a wide range of countries and their Covid situations.
He said, in his opinion, that Aus and NZ would be amoungst the early countries allowed to return.
That's good news for me.

Hi mickojak

So you got your 1 year Extension, (that's great) or did you just lodge your Application for it. =D>

I know you mentioned Family in your post, but can I ask, is your reason for the one year extension request, Retirement Married or Retirement Single

Hi Pip,
I applied for it last wed and submitted all the paperwork, with witness etc.
All accepted and got a consideration of stay stamp in passport.
Today had the visit from the officers to prove residence etc, I suppose?

Got to go back to Immi on 15 july for final approval.

I'm on a NON O marriage visa. My 90 days runs out today, with visa valid to mid Sept.

Thanks and congrats.

Did you have to dress up in a suit and tie, have a shave, send the misses out shopping and put on a smile, for the visiting Immigration officers, in the hope that the Babe from the Udon Thani office was going to be one of them.

Ha, Ha, none of that.
Speaking of that chick at Immo, she is hot looking, but IMHO, up herself, big time [-(
She could do with a personality transplant, so happy she did not come to my house.
Way over chicks like that.

Has anybody been to Udon Immigration lately? If so does anyone know who the new guy is that butts into everything and who's goal in life seems to be ruining Udon's friendly immigration reputation?
Just been to Immigration Udon to renew my extension & wife's.
Had the unfortunate experience of being dealt with by the above.
No problem with my extension all done.

I took all the same paperwork for my wife as I have done for the last 9 years.
First time I was told to get the Marriage certificate translated into Thai which I did.
After that no problem for 9 years.
Same paperwork every year.

Today I got my extension which by the way did not need a Letter from Kasikorn Bank just a 3 months statement printed and stamped by the bank.
It was no problem and accepted.

My wife was refused an extension as the person above wanted the Marraige certificate authenticated by the Indonesian Embassy. She is Indonesian.
I told him they would not do this as the Document was Stamped by the Indonesia Govt and was an official Document.
I had the original with me.

He then said I needed to get it approved by the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok.
I thought that you only needed this done if you married in Thailand.

Maybe Sometimewoodworker can confirm this with his Knowledge of Immigration rules.

Has anybody with a Non Thai wife (such as Laos) had the same problem in the past.
My wife has been tied to my visa for 9 years as she is not yet 50 years old.

Phone the Thai Immigration hotline and explain your situation.

Or if you are mobile, move to another province.

Not sure that is warranted, if I could move to another province I would have done so years ago. I have had many run ins with Udon Immigration over the years and refuse to deal with them now. I actually, feel sorry for the stressful, and frustrating situation you are in. They have screwed me over many times.
