"Trump, however, took some responsibility for the move. In a series of tweets he stated his intention to continue to contest the results of the election but stated that, "in the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same."

Having a record of 34 losses to 1 partial win and whatever the lawyers say outside the courts inside the courts they are making clear they are NOT claiming voter fraud because lying in court is very very bad for the lawyer. Also they have produced no sustainable (and not much unstable) evidence of malfeasance or misfeasance.semperfiguy wrote: ↑November 24, 2020, 6:48 pmTrump insists that he will continue with all legal proceedings to prove voter fraud, so he is still in the fight.
So tRump and lawyers can bluster and lie to the public but not to the judges.

Re: Will Trump concede?
He cannot appoint anyone as VP. If he resigns, Pence becomes President, even if it happens the day before Biden's inauguration. If Pence resigns, there is a line of succession set out in the Constitution. Pelosi is next. The President has no say in the matter.
Re: Will Trump concede?
However, if Pence appoints a VP BEFORE he resigns, that person becomes POTUS.
I am not expert enough to know if this is still the case in the interim period, but think it is the case.
If it is based on tradition and precedent, with this admi nistration, there are no rules.

Re: Will Trump concede?
Since he lost what has trump done to fight Covid? Or Mentioned anything? Seams to me he has given up thrown the towel in and wants to cause as much damage as he can so long as he can get a round of Golf in untill the last minute when he is turfed out on the W/H. It just shows what kind of a man he is if he will not even help and offer any help to the new President.
Re: Will Trump concede?
Here's the scenario if I am reading it right. If Trump resigns and Pence becomes president, Pence can appoint a new VP but it has to be confirmed through the House and Senate.Whistler wrote: ↑November 24, 2020, 8:00 pmHowever, if Pence appoints a VP BEFORE he resigns, that person becomes POTUS.

Re: Will Trump concede?
Almost. If Trump resigns, then Pence becomes President. He can appoint a Vice-President, but that appointment must be confirmed by majority votes in both the Senate and House of Representatives.
Re: Will Trump concede?
Trump will never concede and he will never resign.
Re: Will Trump concede?
Thank you for this. I never checked it out... Frankly this is dynamite. Trump is screwed

He lied on the way in; he lied on an industrial scale while in; and is still lying as his lying arse is tossed out.
I'm not sure this is what god had in mind when (s)he had him elected in 2016.

He was a false deity, nothing more nothing less. Come January 20, 2021, maybe we can make this country respectable again.
Re: Will Trump concede?
It won't be that simple, and Biden is going to have a very difficult Presidency. Trump has transformed the Republican party into a personality cult, and any type of dissent or disloyalty is met with quick and sharp retaliation. Too many don't have the guts to stand up to him. Psychologically, he cannot acknowledge that he may have lost at something, anything. He was taught by his father from the time that he was a small child that winning isn't everything, it's the only thing. Losing was unacceptable and impermissible. (Read his sister's book.) He's going to be running again starting the day after Biden's inauguration; and, as the vote totals show, tens of millions of people have drunk the Kool Aid.
Re: Will Trump concede?
Definitely an uphill battle. I think some of the most important things that need to take care of are workers' rights. Trump gutted the DOL, EEOC, OSHA, and other departments to make it easier for big businesses to do whatever they wanted without regards to workers health and safety. Trump did it with a stroke of a pen, so can Biden.Udon Map wrote: ↑November 24, 2020, 9:17 pmIt won't be that simple, and Biden is going to have a very difficult Presidency. If you think it couldn't get worse, you are mistaken. This is Trump Jnr, the Don on steroids. He rather, than pyscho dad could be the candidate looking at hs profile on wiki and be afraid, be very afraid.Udon Map wrote: ↑November 24, 2020, 9:17 pmIt won't be that simple, and Biden is going to have a very difficult Presidency. Re: Will Trump concede?
Nice to see Fox giving Trump less actual air time. I guess they have no option since he has been a veritable Greta Garbo recently with mostly an empty echo being heard on his Twitter feed.
So Fox & Friends fill the vacuum with in-depth analyses of team Biden. Much eye-rolling and swamp-calling being made about several of the appointees having (sharp intake of breath here for effect), "Served under the Obama administration!" Well paint me purple and call me Barney, team Obama only left the building less than 4 years ago FFS! Apart from Kerry, who must have pictures of somebody, it's a team with relatively recent experience of shoveling coal.
Anyway, it's proof if ever proof was needed that the goon show of Trump politik only FEELS like it's been twice as long as it actually has been, such has been his in-your-face style as America's Country Manager.

Re: Will Trump concede?
Hardly a good application of the Meme Tamada, but I see where you're coming from. In terms of calculation for war, if all other diplomatic attempts fail, then you'd better believe that my Marines will be "first to fight", and we will release a firestorm that will put the fear of God in our enemy. That is of course, if the politicians will allow us to do our job. The former Commandant of the Marine Corps and our hero, Chesty Puller, once said about the Vietnam war...I could put my Marines on the DMZ and march them south, and we could win this war in 30 days (or something like that). As it turned out we left the war with our tail between our legs, all because of scumbag wimpy politicians like Joe Biden who doesn't have a backbone. If and when he becomes our Commander in Chief, I don't know one military man that has any respect for him and would be proud to fight for him. I understand that he is already talking about disbanding my beloved Corps. He would love to cut back our forces so that his beloved China could come in and take over. It's only a matter of time under a Democrat, Socialist, Marxist, Communist administration.
Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.
Re: Will Trump concede?
Then why has the USA failed to win a single conclusive victory in any war for the past 70 years? (Apart from a couple of tiny carribean nations)?semperfiguy wrote: ↑November 26, 2020, 5:25 pm

Korea - failure
Vietnam - failure
Laos- they laugh at you
Iraq - a disaster
Grenada - a tiny foe
Panama - a tiny foe
Libya- left a mess
Syria - skulked away leaving the Kurds in peril
Afghanistan - zero success
Somalia - ineffective
etc, etc, etc.
I cannot think of a single battle where the US won unless they had overwhelming military assets and manpower. You couldn't even make a tactical withdrawal in 30 days, let alone a victory.
Chesty might have been great at making big claims, but a big mouth is just that, a big mouth.
My Aussie mates who served in Vietnam reckon the US Army were brillaint at R&R but not much else
