TAT organizes Grand Songkran in 12 provinces
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is organizing the Grand Songkran in 12 provines for two weeks from April 8th to 22th, 2007. The event is expected to generate 2.5 billion baht of revenue.
TAT Governor Pornsiri Manoharn says the 12 provinces joining the Grand Songkran include Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Chon Buri, Samut Prakarn, Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Khon Kaen, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla and Phuket.
Mrs. Pornsiri says Phuket will continue to be one of the most appealing destinations during Songkran. She says security officials are geared up to facilitate the tourists in major areas.
The TAT Governor would like to invite both Thai and foreign tourists to join the Songkran celebration. She says the celebration in Sanam Luang during Songkran will also include the activities to celebrate the 80th birthday of His Majesty the King.
