Want a nice relaxing hotel or guest house in Udon Thani

Postby janptr » September 26, 2005, 12:57 am

Hi all!
Im (male 50) going to Udon Thani, for my first time, in January next year and donดt know where to stay for a week or more. I really donดt like the big luxury hotels but want a hotel or guest house which has a pool, room with refrigerator and air. Been in Thailand many times but have no experince in Udon Thani, any advice? Hope I can get some link as well to check out.
Regards

If you dont mind not being right in the heart of town then I would have to recommend Thomas Resort:

http://www.udonthaihouse.com

Rooms are clean, cheapish and cool at 500 baht per night.

It has a small pool and it's a very quiet and relaxing place.

Thanks for reply! Yeah that was a very nice place indeed, and so was the price :) But I could not find any map so Iดm wondering how far to downtown. I like to go by motorbike so itดs no problem with distance but hope itดs not too far. How many room there?

On the menu menu under :Udon Thani: there is a drop down menu for maps. Select the first map, which is Udon Thani city centre. Click your mouse on the map to zoom in. I think that where you are looking for is in map reference Y18. One of the memebers who lives in Udon will tell you if I am wrong :D but I imagine that they are asleep at the moment.

Yep you are 100% right Bob, Y18 is the grid reference on the map:

http://www.udonmap.com/udon_thani_city_map.html

It's only a couple of km's out of town, maybe not even that, I would say about 5-10 minutes away from the city centre.

I think there is about 9 or 10 rooms on the site.

Now got it clear from the map, Thanks! I saw another place when looking around called Aussie Bar http://www.udonmap.com/aussiepub/ is that a nice place as well? But the resort was real great I must admit, at least from the website.

have stayed at udon/thomas resort. it fits the bill of quiet and relaxing. got the last room when there, not large, but comfy. you won't be doing laps in the pool, but i will cool you off. restaurant on premises i did not try, menu looked decent. motorbike should solve any transportation problems or baht bus at end of street. if out and about and want to indulge a little too much to drive, the their free shuttle is available. if staying a while in area, book couple nights to keep your options free. good value for money.

I share the common hatred of drop down menus - so the easiest way possible is the best as far as I am concerned. It always happens that I never quite manage to hit the target first time and end up starting again.
Windows menus do my head in :( ](*,)
