WARNING !! WORST VIRUS YET

Just received this from a friend in UK,the original source is trusted.

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,'regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN.

It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

COPY THIS E-MAIL, AND SEND IT TO YOUR FRIENDS.

This is a Urban legend...

The 'warning e-mail' has been circulating since 2008.

While this is a recognised method of sending a virus the danger is no more today than any other day.
As far as I am aware viruses are not capable of causing hardware damage, only a limited (but damaging & annoying) data destruction.

I would suggest that sending this (or any other) e-mail to everyone in your mailing list achieves a hackers primary aim without it being necessary for him to go to the painstaking task of writing the virus...

actually, viruses can destroy a pc.

the malicious source code is injected into your drive & causes the drive to continually operate at excessive speeds because its trying to carry out the injected code, but it never does. the drive is simply overwhelmed by the demand placed on it & if no further action is carried out to prevent this, it will eventually fail, requiring a replacement of the drive & possibly other components.

I would be very interested if you could post a link to a reliable source that says this has actually happened - rather than a source saying that in theory it could be done, or an 'interested party' trying to sell virus protection...

i do not open anything anyway that does not come from any of my contacts, i did post something like this before and got idiot remarks , so result i am not posting it anymore , bad luck when it is true...and not a hoax....cheers...
