Where to stay?!

Postby samuel5552002 » October 21, 2008, 2:14 pm

Ill be visiting Udon Thani (alone !!!!) in February. I always stay in Pattaya every year for a month, this time I fancy spending about 5 nights in Udon looking around and maybe going into Laos. My question is......where do I stay? I was looking at maybe Top Mansions, but on looking at the reviews, it said it may bea bit "awkward'! taking visitors back!? Its not that Ill be some mad party animal! ,but! as Im going alone! (no wife and kids!) Id like to make the most of the opportunity!!!!!!! (if toy know what I mean!)
I presume the bars (and Im not expecting anything like Pattaya by the way!) are situated by the 'MALL'?
I dont really mind where I stay as long as its clean! and not mega expensive! and its near the bars, guest friendly! and is easy to get to other places by foot!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for so many requests! But thanks in advance for any replies!
P.S. Im thinking of going sometime early February, will it be better to phone a particular guest house/hotel when I get to Pattaya (late January!) or is it better to book in advance? (bearing in mind, Ill be booking the bus ticket from Pattay to Udon Thani when I get into Pattaya late January!
cheers guys! :D

Top Mansion is right next door to the bars & a reasonable walking distance from most places you might want to visit.
I would think that booking in advance is advisable as they do get busy. If you look at their advert on here & can then telephone from Pataya, the receptionists speak very passable English. Pretty basic but certainly clean & guest friendly, I think about 350 baht a night there now.
The Irish Clock is more upmarket, but in the same street, about 850 baht I night I think. They only have about 8 rooms so pre-booking is pretty essential, although you can actually do that by e-mail & as Steve is English (& Mali has very good English) no language barriers. Again guest friendly, but I think every hotel is in Udon.
I think they are the two that are nearest everything now, but plenty of other selections in the Accommodation section.
