Wooden Doors

Does anyone know where to buy good quality wooden doors (interior and exterior)? I know Global, Homepro and St Mall have, but was wondering if any of the little shops you see scattered around making doors are any good.

Check out the small shop on the corner of the ring road and road going to Kut Chap. Same road that the Napolli Hotel is on. Right across from the sporting complex..

Our experience is 15 years old, so take it for what it's worth:
When we built our home, we bought 6 heavy wooden doors for our home. At that time, it was near impossible to find a single store that had more than 2 of the same type door in stock. All of the doors cost us between 2500 and 3200 baht (after lots of haggling), solid wood, with solid wood insert panels.
The doors that I see at Global and Homepro for about the same price (15 years later) are as good as the ones we bought. I'd guess you can buy more than 2 or 3 of the same type without a problem. Seal them well and they should give you a lifetime of use. No haggling necessary.

I bought my doors at Global, for external use I would stick to Mai Sak (teak), Mai Makha and last choice Mai Daeng, termites will leave those three timbers alone and they handle weather ok. Doors at global are made by big manufacture's they use kiln dried stable timber, a lot of the small guys use green or wet timber as its cheaper to buy, which will crack and open up in time. They have a big range of doors in Global and cheap in my opinion.

Thanks all. Wound up buying 15 doors between Global and Home Pro. None of them looked like they had been used as raft in BK.

I bought several windows and doors from the place near the Napali Hotel, unfortunately several weeks later they started to bend and weep sap. Luckily the the wood yard owner replaced them all free of charge. I guess the wood wasn't aged long enough before it was cut.

Anyway just a heads-up for anyone thinking of buying wood from one of the local timbers merchants. I would imagine you don't get this problem at the larger stores like Global House.

I'll let you know in a few years! Had a mini-moving in sayonce on the 30th because wife said that was last lucky day of the year to move in. We didn't really move in but did camp out in bedroom. We fed and intoxicated half the village. Some local good-ole-boys went around thumping on all the doors and gave me the thumbs up. Not sure what this meant, but take it as a good sign. Then again, they may have been wanting more beer!
