Must admit that I gave the Windies no chance in this series. They are a poor side at the moment & travel just about as bad as it is possible to travel.
However they confounded me by coming out and knocking 590 runs in their first innings. Bravo was the anchor man with a knock of 166, but all the top order batsmen put in a decent score.
In India's first innings, Tendulkar came so, so close to that 100th. 100 but could not quite make it - out for 94. Aswin top scored with 103 (to add to his 5 wickets) as India made 482 - just over 100 behind & surely a draw written all over the game.
However Ojha (with 6) & Ashwin (again, with the other 4) must have bowled like demons (or the pitch went to pot) as they scuttled the Windies out for a mere 134, with only Bravo, again, putting up much resistance.
So only 243 to win it & a chance for maybe, finally, of that 100th.....
Not to be. The great man was out for just 3, as all the West Indies bowlers produced wickets.
In their 64 allocated overs India managed to match the 242 runs, but couldn't overtake it, for all but 1 wicket gone.
So did end in a draw, but a great deal more exciting one than I imagined...
Oh, this was the 3rd. game of a 3 match series which India won 2 nil.
Not that I think that (or strange bookmakers) had anything to do with the result...
