Very athletic but dancing? No way. We used to have dancing lessons at school where we learnt not only to dance properly but respect for the female with whom we wished to dance. Those videos show the obvious roots of that behaviour, almost animalistic in a primitive way.Not one of the finer imports from the US.in my mind.
Ageing is a privilige denied to many .

I'm surprised that this one hasn't been mentioned, it was such a huge hit back in the day. Queen the original album was probably the best they did but it isn't very well known.

At school, we learnt the waltz and square dancing. It was fun although most of us were painfully shy. Also, the girls and boys had to dress and act politely,

If anyone thinks GlamRock was all about Glitter take a look at The Sweet performing Hell Raiser live at The Hammersmith Odeon in72-73 miles ahead of there time or Slade doing a song called Get Down n Get with it live. Considering there was little or no effects on the Guitars at that time the Sound is heavy. Noddy Holder had such a powerful Gritty voice it has been suggested he was asked to replace Bon Scott before it was offered to Bryan Johnson in AC/DC.

The Sparks video made me laugh, can you imagine all the fluffies these days if the organist appeared on TV? My word there would be uproars, mind I suppose we were somewhat gender neutral in those days with our long hair, flares and stack shoes, way ahead of our time.

I don't have a favourite song but a favourite era. late 70's and early 80's aussie pub rock bands.
Most of my local pubs with live music shut at 3am, 4 or 5 nights a week. Many a difficult wake up for work.

Just some bands off a list I found like below. I saw the majority. It was the aussie rock era but credit where credit is due a lot of kiwi bands or kiwi's in the band helped create this memorable time in my life. It coincided with the disco era which did not interest me unless you wanted to check out the snobby girls.

Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Rose Tattoo, Hunters & Collectors, Paul Kelly, Sunnyboys, Australian Crawl, Divinyls, Skyhooks, Icehouse, The Church and Dragon, "Weddings, Parties, Anything", Painters & Dockers, The Johnnys, The Screaming Tribesmen, The Lime Spiders, The Dingoes and V. Spy V. Spy. and many more.

I wondered when you would post your song, Don McClean eh? Well of course I also have a song by the same artist, I've had it sung and bought for me a few times through my life. In reality I was called Vince Everitt after Elvis in Jailhouse Rock, it was nothing to do with Mr Van Gogh

I’d never heard of Years & Years and I was a bit sceptical, not many of this type of singer can actually sing, they run their voices through computers to make them sound better than they really are. However, I dug out a live track and the lad can sing very well. Really not so sure about his sparkly shorts tho.

Ha ha! I'm usually pretty good with music, I tend to like most genres but yeah I have to admit I'd never heard of them. To be honest, since I've been living here I have probably listened to more Mor Lum than any music from the UK and I've developed a penchant for what they call " Vietnam War" songs like paint it black, white rabbit etc, must drive my neighbours nuts.

I have these on order :)
