Sweet dreams? Surely there was only one song called sweet dreams?

if you have a favourite song and want to share it that would be great.
Although topic is favourite SONGS, noticeable that responses have overwhelmingly been regarding members' favourite performer, group or genre. :?
Looking at my selection of 12 favourite songs,( after all how many 'favourites, can you have?), compared to those of other members, seems I am the 'oddball here.  But all of my selections possess some special personal association from my life, so forgive me. Although hardly necessary , ( well, to older members :-" ), I have included my preferred performer. No special order of preference, except No.1!
1. Because (God made thee mine). My Dad ,with Mario Lanza, as my second choice. My Dad's special song for my Mum, and which he sang to her on every special occasion, even well into his eighties.
2. Don't laugh at me cause I'm a fool. Norman Wisdom.
3. It's a wonderful world. Louis Armstrong.
4.Ave Maria. Mario Lanza in a duet with a young choirboy. In one of the former's movies, the title of which I forget.
5. Annie's Song. John Denver.
6.As long as he needs me. Whitney Houston.
7.It's Magic. Doris Day.
8.Green, green grass of home. Tom Jones
9.The Prayer. Andrea Bocelli & Dion Celine.
10.Nessum Dorma. Pavarotti.
11.Didn't we almost have it all. Whitney Houston.
12.Wonderful tonight. Me!! Following in my father's example, my special song, for my special lady. Trouble is, have to leave the vocals to Clapton these days, as my voice has gone awol :( .

That's because, due to an alleged lack of demand, my track was unfairly taken off the market, and a pirated version by someone called Eric Clapton was issued!
Just realized, I omitted "My Way", the lyrics of which ensures this song a place among my top all time favourites.

Pffft! Fancy having to play second fiddle to an amateur like Eric Clapton, I'll put up his rubbish version anyway

I must be just a tad older than most of you guys here as my music likes are early rock and roll some early rockabilly.

My most memorable song from that era Johnny Burnett "Your Sixteen" released in 1961 written by the Sherman's and the worse cover version of any song ever was Ringo's version of it

Some excellent choices out there,so far,but also whats interesting is some that haven't featured that you thought could be popular.....
Tamla Mowtown.....Who could forget Band of Gold-Freda Payne,Reach out I'll be there-Four Tops,Dancing in the Street-Martha Reeves and The Vandellas,What becomes of the Broken Hearted-Jimmy Ruffin....to mention but a few.

The Beatles.....possibly the most popular group of our time.....Hello Goodbye,Penny Lane,Hey Jude etc.

And The Police.....Message in a bottle,Walking on the Moon,Dont stand so close to me,Every breath you take,Everything she does is magic....and Stings,An Englishman in New York.

Heres "Don't stand so close to me" to start your day.....

There are so many great Motown records, you're right it's bit of a surprise, I can't say I was over enamoured with the Beatles, I'm most likely in the minority but I think they were greatly overrated but just "happened" at the right time. The Police were a great band at the time but I lost interest when Sting started going all weirdo. Here's a Beatles track I do like.

That was a great song, I remember being a kid up in my bedroom listening to all the "grown ups" at my mums parties belting out Spirit in the Sky at the top of their voices, I'd then get told off for not being asleep :s

It also put me in mind of another great group Wizzard, Roy Wood was in a few bands but one of my favourites was The Move.

Roy Wood - The Move - Blackberry Way - https://youtu.be/ELRHD4UCo74

Here's one I haven't played for awhile brilliant Irish blues-man.

Gary Moore - I've still got the blues.

Gary Moore, a great track, another Moore, Christy Moore, not the greatest singer and not popular with all Irish, he's bit of a rebel and his protest songs don't sit well with everyone.
