Actual rainfall for Udon

ongoing desperate attempts to dig the mush out of Huay Luang reservoir.. i suppose at the end of the day, the water table level is so low, even a half hearted wet season will not make a dent in it... i recall 10 years ago it would rain like crazy every night (in May) never mind bleedin July

Nice sunny day.....my wife and I commenting on how nice it'd be for some rain to cool things off....but there was hardly a cloud in the sky and the forecast didn't seem to support any precipitation. Then at 2PM, out of nowhere....the skies opened. Perfect! kilo 18

For mid-July the reservoirs throughout the country seem quite low...

It all has to do with the lack of Infrastructure.

Approx. forty years ago an individual of Thailand personally drew up plans to direct the flood waters of Bangkok & other areas & to design a irrigation / water management system where 2 rice crops could be grown in lots of areas & conserve water.

At the time it was agreed by scientists / engineers etc it was a brilliant plan with great forward sight.
The last time Bangkok was flooded which caused all sorts of problems (approx 3-4 years ago the plans were published again.

It was still agreed that the plans were very good by all the experts but could be modified to suit modern engineering.
No government has yet made any major investment to look at & carry out the plans to solve water shortages & flooding.

It is called basic infrastructure which we lack regarding water.

it appears my post above has been modified because I mentioned a certain man of Royal Patronage even though it only praises him & his foresight at the time was excellent

I don't remember seeing a forecast like this for July, check out the number of sunny days. It's not looking good for the reservoir levels...

Actual rainfall for Udon

I am fully convinced like in the UK that the weather has actually shifted a couple of months , now wether that is because of the El Nino / El Nina effect, is open to supposition.
I was informed that the world following the tsunami and earthquake of 2003/4 actually shifted on its axis about half a degree.
The possibility of subsequent earthquakes of a similar magnitude pushing it back is also open to argument. Here in Udon the management of water has increased and to be fair to the local Government they do , do a very good job, tue they were helped years ago by the construction of not only a storm drain principle but also of a major pumping station at Nong Prajak, pumping oput the excess to the resovoirs and having it back in times of less rainfall.

It will take some years for the worlds weather system to recover form the 2003/4 Tsunami after effects, we just have to live on this earth fopr a really short span of time , Greenland after all not that long ago ( by earths time frame ) was covered in trees hence the name.

The rainfall of late ( over the last few days has been over 150 millilitres ) , not too shabby and the prospects of rain somewhere in the province for the foreseeable future almost every day will not do any harm either.

Seriously? I always took you for one of the sensible people around here :) "Informed"... by whom? Roy Spencer or the like? Can you start a new thread and put up some links from actual scientists regarding this Earth tilt shifting theory? Thx. This thread shouldn't devolve into yet another climate change denier avenue. Science bah humbug :)

Anyway, as we all know, the forecast around here can change very rapidly, let's hope we get a bit more rain than is forecast in this Accuweather one.

It looks like there is a low pressure zone pushing the monsoon winds very far westward, such that India is getting a lot of precipitation that usually would be heading our way...

OMG I am not going to go back to research historical data as I cannot be bothered to justify what I say to anyone, as most with a small grain of intelligence can find out for themselves, I am not about to educate the unintelligent masses. Regarding the Earth tilt I was also a tad questioning but the BBC Weather Bureau as well as many in the world did notice a slight shift . This will affect weather , as we have seen warmer and now drier but rain is coming , maybe not the same as before but weather is cyclical as we all know.
In the UK they have designated 50 to 100 year flood plains , that helps with planning , here they do not have to my knowledge such historical data and if they do they do not tell anyone, but my well produced ample water for my garden last year and the preceeding 14 years , a lot of rain or none still gives me water, so it is falling somewhere, maybe not in your back garden but somewhere.

As for being sensible I do try unlike others .

Apologies in advance for taking this off-topic detour, but sometimes it is required.

An article debunking the idea that earthquakes can cause large changes in weather...

When was Greenland covered in trees

Wiki states the green came from "sounding good for new settlers to come "

It was the early Norwegian settlers who gave the country the name Greenland. In the Icelandic sagas, it is said that the Norwegian-born Icelander Erik the Red was exiled from Iceland for manslaughter. Along with his extended family and his thralls, he set out in ships to explore icy land known to lie to the northwest. After finding a habitable area and settling there, he named it Grœnland (translated as "Greenland"), supposedly in the hope that the pleasant name would attract settlers

Its quite possible that sometime between 450,000 and 800,000 years ago, much of Greenland was green and covered in a boreal forest but you'd need DNA evidence to establish that but I doubt there was anyone around to name it Greenland at that time.

No I was not that is for sure and for any articles that debunks a theory there are many that confirm it.
Greenland did have trees how else did the Vikings get to America , they certainly did not swim that is for sure .

It actual fact it matters not one jot, the weather is an oft talked about subject and can and does raises ones blood pressure if one really took it seriously , we mere specks on the earths surface can do absolutely nothing about it, except perhaps lessen our carbon footprint and even then the effects that will have is minimal. Cows/ Pigs give off more CO2 than we do , are we about to become all vegetarians I do not think so ..
