Seems like half the posters above are misinterpreting the comment by the OP. He's talking about the flight from Pattaya to Udon being changed from the present 7:30 AM to 15:30 in the afternoon. There is no mention of a time change for the flight from Udon to Pattaya.
So the plane from U-Tapao lands in Udon late afternoon and just sits there overnight and flies back the following morning? That's not the model of a LCC.

Thai used to do that last high season with an additional evening flight on Fri, Sat and Sun that parked up and did the red-eye back to BKK on Sat, Sun and Mon. It was great for catching onward late morning flights and I could be in the office in Vietnam or Myanmar by mid afternoon. I hope they do it again this year as Thai Lion were the earliest alternative to DMK and the shuttle bus to BKK would just about beat the traffic. AirAsia and Nok were just 30 to 45 minutes too late for an easy connection.

The schedule for Thai Smile changes 28 Oct. i did not review whole thing but had to change return from BKK next month.

If flying after 28 Oct you best check the schedule

Using AirAsia's smartphone app, the UTP flight time change wasn't in effect yesterday although their website shows the change from morning to afternoon. Maybe a caution for those that book via the app.
