Another dog attack yesterday. Looking for pepper spray.

Not sure about pepper spray, but have seen stun guns at a small kiosk in front of the express check out lane at the old Big C.

Alchai, go to Big-C on Phosri Rd. corner of Ring Rd. There's a small shop upstairs in the vendor area just outside the rows of check-out counters that sells swat type items. I believe the pepper spray is 490 baht. It's located in a glass counter.

Thanks Sem, I did just that today. They are out of stun guns at the moment but I purchased a can of pepper spray for 299B.

Coming in a bit late on this thread, but if you have this kind of problem my usual 2 options are:
1. Attack the problem. I drive directly at local dogs that have bothered me, they generally learn to keep out of the way. My gf thinks I'm crazy

but it works for me.
2. If option 1 is not viable then option 2 is to befriend the dogs as suggested by Jello. Provided you are not fearful of the dogs, I believe it is better to stop the bike and toss them the treats. Do this outside their home.
Dogs are simple creatures and, when food is involved, are usually fast learners. The Thai dogs that run around the streets generally don't have caring owners, so when they are used to you stopping, give them a bit of fuss.

The 2 problem dogs on my gf mother's street now chase everybody but us. Because I stop outside their home they don't even bother chasing me, they wait for me to come to them. Initially, treat in both directions. Once they are used to you, just treat them on the way out or on the way in.
The potential bonus for befriending the dogs, particularly in the circumstance experienced by gudtymchuk, is p*ssing off the owner

The idea of pepper spraying a nuisance dog/dogs does have a certain amount of revenge satisfaction.

Thai dogs are daft they lay in the middle of the road to say they are fast learners is just not correct fight fire with fire if they become aggressive be twice as aggressive back with a large tree branch $\:D/$

If attacking a dog with a large tree branch is an option, then yes, go for it. Will show your position as an aggressor and as such, a dominant alpha male.
It's not always an option though. The situation we had involved a friend of the gf's family. I'm fairly new to Thailand and don't want to be causing too many waves with the locals. Giving them treats resolved the problem in 3 days. I would say that was fairly fast learning.
As for lying in the middle of the road - can't argue with that. The locals driving motorbikes sometimes show an equal disdain for self-preservation. For both dogs and locals, you can only get away with it for so long. Eventually you will learn the hard way.

It,s the territorial owners dogs that are the problem the limping flee bitten soi dogs are pretty much easy going ... My suggestion if they try to bite you or a family member ,abduct it and turn it in to them dog loving people from Nakon Sakon in a passing truck who will give you a handy gift suck as a bucket for you trouble. As for the aggressive hound ,consequently the hound of the baskervilles will be topping the menu (The way it is don't shoot the messenger)

Its only a problem if you mate it so ... Now let the good times roll

when I go for long walks in the area I generally take a hefty bamboo walking staff.. That would be my ultimate weapon against an aggressive dog. thus far, I've never had to use it.. The old stooping down as if you're picking up a rock (without even doing it) works nearly every time.. When those mangy curs see you bend down, they high tail it, every time.. Occasionally, I've had some come back and then I've actually picked up a rock and have managed to bean a couple of them..

About 20 years ago I built a device that I found in a Practical Electronic book. It was about the size of a packet of cigs. It transmitted a sound that annoyed the dogs and they would run away, a person could not hear the sound as the frequency was to high. It also worked on cats etc., The cost was about 20GBP of which 14GBP was the cost of the platinum speaker. Worked with a PP3 battery, or a mains power supply. Stopped the cats trying to nick the fish in my pond.
Have not kept the details but you might be lucky if you try a google search.

I find that my right, heavily shod foot connecting smartly with the soft, dangly collection of objects between their back legs normally works.
I, my fault, was once bitten during this act; my wound healed swiftly but the, formally noisy, soi dog's bark is now a yelp!!

Try vinegar with a few red chillies in a spray bottle.the ones with adjustable nozzles so you can get good shooting distance.just score the chillies or you'll block the nozzle.

Literally tons of circuits on Google BUT these days you buy stuff from China for a few bucks.

Don't know how well it works, if at all, but worth a try I guess. Don't have to be "on yer bike" to try it either.

Could even get a few different types at the price shown.

I bought one of these off Lazada from China and it has zero effect on dogs. The flashlight works, but I don't need another flashlight. A complete waste of money!

Looking for a strong "Laser light" - being used by these effin idiots trying to blind airline pilots, for my use = Dogs and Cats ONLY at a distance. Been here too long and the olde sling shot does not work as well as it once did!

We live in the sticks and many pack dogs around the land but they don't seem to bother coming into our land. I even asked our Rottie's and they couldn't understand it too

A dog has a very sensitive nose. I use a plastic squeeze bottle filled with household ammonia. My motorbike has a little compartment on both sides within easy reach that hold a small bottle. I don't have to spray the dog, just squirt some on the ground ahead of it. Once the dog gets a sniff of that, he won't bother you again. I never try to squirt them in the face, it may blind them and I don't want to injure the dog.
