Barney from the 2011 census data and the Bureau of Statistics.
Followers of Islam make up 2.21% of the population. So the anti Islam scare mongering is just bass racism propagated by mainly simple and easily lead white Australians who make up a much larger proportion of the population that a few Bosnians, Turks and Lebos :D

Don't take it to serious Marjamlew, I did put a couple of smilies there.

Though you have mixed your short comment ( which deserves an answer) with a whole gambit of, I assume, your personal thoughts about the Australian population, plus throw in mixing religion and Ethnic origin, and racism, and the bad easily led white people,
the " anti Islam scare mongering is just bass racism propagated by mainly simple and easily lead white Australians who make up a much larger proportion of the population.
" is a strange comment. Sounds like that group are self propagating, for what reason would that be???
IMO it is the continual fighting and change of gov't policy over the last couple of decades that has propagated, to use your word, some of the Aussie's opinions and perceived problems with the immigration into Australia. When can any of us remember a common theme and joint agreement between any of them? The political parties are selfish and very happy to have the population divided for not only personal and party gains, but to further retain power and the money that goes with it.
The "she''ll be right" aussie attitude is unfortunately rapidly disappearing due to a number of minority groups (whether they be religious or political ) getting far to much attention IMO above what used to be called the "silent majority". Far to many small squeaky wheels getting the oil. The silent majority just may be raising their collective voices via protests or social media, having been left with no one to complain to. We are told every day things they are changing around the world and perhaps not many of your stated so called "simple people", are not happy to be silent anymore.

But the test cricket is on this week to keep us silent at least for this summer. ;) Far more important than politics to see how our new team will perform under Capt Smith. \:D/

Mr. Abbott is apparently an opinion and thought leader? Well may be if you're a senator past your use by date from Tasmania.

I think the Senator is as ding-dong as the young woman who shirt-fronted the police officer at Flemington on Tuesday.

"Scott Morrison has described speakers at a Hizb ut-Tahrir conference as “clowns” and said they were “no friends” of the Australian Muslim community.

The Islamist activist group told its followers yesterday that Muslims should not have to submit to an oppressive campaign of “forced assimilation” such as singing the national anthem or pledging support for democratic values in the citizenship oath.

The call came at a conference in Sydney where Muslims were encouraged to make use of printed material which recommends “refusing to partake in any of the government’s counter-terrorism programs and initiatives”, and says co-operation with spy agencies “is outright haram (forbidden)”.

Money allegedly paid to the people smugglers by the Australian navy which was taken as evidence has gone astray
Been said was given back to the smugglers who gave it to their families

Oh dear ........ the neo-cons and Tea Partyers (sic) in the holier-than-thou "we would never stab a sitting prime minister in the back" Party are not easily going to forgive and forget.

It seem that the Minister for Foreign Affairs - "I have faithfully served 3 party leaders as deputy" - Ms Julie Bishop, was one of the close-to-the-centre plotters who saw about the demise of Australia's worst ever prime minister, Sir Tony Abbott.
Revelations that Julie Bishop's chief of staff attended a key meeting of Turnbull backers the night before the leadership coup that brought down Tony Abbott has shaken trust within the party, a Liberal backbencher says.

The meeting took place in the home of Eden-Monaro MP, Dr Peter Hendy, and was attended by the Liberal Party's Malcolm Turnbull, Wyatt Roy, Arthur Sinodinos, Mitch Fifield, Mal Brough, James McGrath and Scott Ryan.

It has been revealed that Ms Bishop's long-standing chief of staff, Murray Hansen, was also present at the meeting.........

......... Senator Bernardi has questioned why it took so long to tell Mr Abbott about the plot, and suggested it was unlikely Mr Hansen was there just to observe what was happening.

"Great lengths were gone to by the plotters to avoid letting anyone know about what was going on, so I find it unusual that they invited an outsider in, particularly a staff member, just to be an observer," he said.

He said the revelations were making it more difficult for the Liberal Party to recover after the leadership change.

"The wounds, I won't say they were healing, but certainly they were drying up a little bit," he said.

"This has, quite frankly, ripped the scab off the wounds and opened up them again.

Fairfax's Peter Hartcher is doing an interesting analysis of the Abbott government:

http://www.smh.com.au/interactive/2015/ ... oPeta.html

Meanwhile Abbott remains happy with his efforts as PM:

http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politi ... lbule.html

I like this bit from the end of the second link:

"Mr Abbott said that two aspects of Fairfax Media's reports in part one of this series were incorrect. He said that Ms Credlin had not set the agenda of his talks with Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, and that he had never said in front of a foreign leader that he would "check with the boss" or "chief" in reference to Ms Credlin.

"That's a fantasy," he said."

Even the hi-sos were having fun about the shirtfront comments:

"Russia's Foreign Affairs Minister, Sergey Lavrov, at a meeting with counterparts from nine other countries on August 6 in Kuala Lumpur, put it to Julie Bishop in his gravelly, heavily accented voice: "Is your prime minister still going to shirtfront my president?"

The US Secretary of State, John Kerry, jumped in. "Yeah," he said, "we've been putting money on the result, and we're backing Putin."

Bishop shut down the levity with a curt, "thank you for that, John" and returned the discussion to the agenda for the meeting, the ASEAN Regional Forum ministerial meeting."

http://www.theage.com.au/interactive/20 ... urity.html

Kerry kissing some Russian arse? He may have been just asking world leader and action man Vlad through Vlad's boys for some assistance on something.

Thank Buddha the thousand armed Aussies mentioned in the link didn't end up in eastern Ukraine as desired by crazy Tony.
