First of all, congratulations to Cardiff on their promotion to EPL.
The reason some Welsh clubs can play in the English league is historical. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there are 4 clubs have this exemption: Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham and Newport County. This is because at the time these clubs were formed there was no Welsh national league. No other Welsh clubs would be allowed to play in England now. Wales only formed a national league in order to keep their separate international status. UEFA/FIFA orders. In effect these 4 clubs have grandfather rights.
In Scotland we have a situation where an English club, Berwick Rangers, plays in the Scottish league. This is for geographical reasons, as Berwick is nowhere near the rest of England.

As for the status of Scottish football, I have to agree with previous posters, It's crap. When did the national team last qualify for anything? Celtic sweep all before them, in Scotland. Put them in the English league and they would be mid-table championship, at best. It would take them a few seasons to adjust to playing at a higher level.

i never understood how welsh teams can be in the ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE as you say statto god forbid if them jocks ever get in plus them taffy grounds are a nightmare to get to by car
I dont have anything against the 2 big Welsh clubs but would crack a grin if Swansea go down as this Calavahal is a total fruitcake and fooked up Sheff Wednesday before the Swans ....

Footy north of the border is a tense topic and i would love to see the Scotts come into the English leagues ....BUT ... IMO Scottish football is a joke , Celtic win the league every year by a huge margin , then when in Europe and actually have to play some one half decent they get hammered . IMO this is MY OPINION if Celtic and lets say Aberdeen were to come into the ENGLISH football league set up they would be at best a mid championship sides ....this recent historic long unbeaten run by Celtic sounded great but they dont play anyone domestically.

This should start some debating ????? n im off away for a few days so enjoy .

Khun Adhoc for a Leeds fan your knowledge astounds me !!!! You correct about the Welsh clubs currently playing in the EFL and also Berwick Rangers playing in Scotlands so called FL .

What about Merthyr Tydfil?

remember them being "up for election" to the League a couple of times during their Southern League Prem days but failed (like Romford) to get enough votes because of the old boys you vote for me and I'll vote for you system

And not forgetting Colwyn Bay in the Northern Premier North.....poor football team but a decent pier ! :D

As for Scottish teams in the English Leagues.....
Currently if Aberdeen and Rangers were in the EPL they would be relegated straight away and probably from the Championship as well.
Celtic would fare better but it would be a struggle season after season.Their fans would become disenchanted and bitter with there being no chance of them winning anything......a bit like Evertons, really. ;)

555 The Everton squad is also known as the 0-0 team for its ability to end most of its games with that result.
