Chick Peas
Anybody knows where to buy Chick Peas ? I tried Big C and Macro, didn't have them. Tops might have them but they would be twice the price of the usual price and the quality isn't that good, just like the Tops in Bangkok.
Any info welcome, thanks.

I've purchased dry chickpeas (garbanzo beans) at Top's. I've not found canned chickpeas anywhere in Udon. Once upon a time Tesco Lotus had canned chickpeas but haven't seen them there for several years.
At Top's, the dry chickpeas are found in the section near the meat counter. Often they are in one of those bins that are set in the aisles in the dairy/meat/cheese area.
I've also bought canned chickpeas at Villa Market in Bangkok. They might have them when they open in Udon this month.
I make hummus ever so often. I've not found tahini paste in Udon either. Fortunately, tahini paste (sauce) is easily made by toasting some sesame seeds, adding bit of vegetable oil and pureeing them in a blender or food processor. Fresh tahini actually is more flavorful that the store bought kind.
Good luck in your search.

Chick Peas
thanks.
i am looking for dry chick peas. In Bangkok i usually did buy them at a local Indian grocery shop, half the price of the TOPS chick peas and better quality.
chickpeas aren't well known by Thai people so i guess i will have to take a box of chickpeas next time i visit BKK...

Makro has lentils and chickpeas now. They are in the International Section of the store. They were located at the end of the aisle the last time I was there.
Makro has a few other Indian ingredients in the display as well.

Looking for Tahini, -does Udon have it now that Villa is around?

Imported products are normally more expensive. I'm sure the reverse is true in your home country.

It's very easy to make tahini yourself and very cheap....the main ingredient is the sesame that is cheap here. Search the net for a recipe you like and adjust it to your taste.

Re: Chick Peas
You can buy chick peas in most supermarkets, I buy mine in Big C to make hummus but I use a tahini free recipe, if you go into big C and walk down the Farang aisle from the front of the shop, the chick peas are about 5 meters mid shelf on the left hand side.
