CT scan in Udon for bladder issue?

Post by Stanley Road » November 4, 2018, 12:33 pm

Hello people

Advice much appreciated here, thanks.

I have had this ongoing bladder issue for 5 weeks, mid level bladder pain and struggling to pee properly on and off. Initially diagnosed with prostatitus which has turned out to be incorrect. I have been to Bangkok Pattaya hospital for basic tests and also Khon Kean Uni hospital, seen a great urologist there. PSA is fine. Urine and blood test, all good. Prostate normal size. I have been on various meds for weeks now and it finally cleared up a few days ago, for the first time in weeks no bladder pain and peeing normaly. The doc at KK cleared me yesterday and said he couldnt be sure what the issue was, but whatever it was it has gone now so no need for any more meds.

Then I woke up this morning and its back, the bladder pain.

Its dawning on me now that the issue is probably something like bladder stones or bladder cystitis. The only way to truly check for that is a cystoscopy which I could realy do without, or a CT scan. Would it be fine to have this done at the army hospital? Im guessing Bangkok Udon will be 30 or 40,000 in that price range for a CT scan? Would much prefer to pay less than that at army hospital but does anyone have first hand experience with a CT scan there? Will it be as reliable as a private hospital? I have spent so much money over the last month on this caper and stupidly have no insurance, the cost of all this is starting to become an issue so i would much prefer a cheaper route!

Many thanks

SR

I would use the army hospital if you can.ive been ripped off twice by Bkk hospital.i used kk hospital for stents and excellent results, then used army hospital for the wife and again excellent result.if at all poss stay away from being a cash cow at bkk hospital.if you think it's stones the army hospital should be able to see to you.try drinking lots of apple cider vinegar to help ease the pain and dissolve them.anyway good luck and let us know how you get on.

There are scan shops around the town that you can just walk in and much cheaper than the hospitals. AEK sent me as an inpatient to one of these places years ago.

I had my CT scan within three days of initial consultation at the Military Hospital, first up 9.00 am appointment, with the followup with my doctor at 4.00 pm same day to discuss the results.

Had the same with the army hospital .crippling bladder ,couldn't even walk . tried to drive and too painfull . the hospital sent an ambulance and when they found me 200m from the house they even got one guy to take the car back. painful ride. but within a few minutes they took blood, urine sample and just a ultrasound . one hour later turned out to be bacteria infection. got the meds and only a 900b bill. then they asked how I was getting home , the next thing they got the ambulance out the front to take me home free of charge. been there a few times and great place as far as i'm concerned. oh and when I got my big toe crushed only 500b to have my foot put in plaster. try hem first before wasting money elsewhere
the world is not my home, I'm just a passenger

I had a CT Scan at the Military Hospital and the cost was only 8,000 baht for the abdomen. The radiologist in charge did a great job of diagnosing the problem immediately. You might also try the CT/MRI department at Udon Thani Municipal Hospital just north of downtown on the highway to Nong Khai. My wife did an MRI there and the facilities are new and the staff are excellent. Prices are on par with the Military Hospital.

Underwent an MRI, (cranium), whilst an inpatient at local Bangkok Hospital. Cost 10,000 Baht. Of course a 'consultation fee' for my attending neurosurgeon, (plus another charge for the normally immobile, non-speaking nurse who always accompanied him on his rounds!), duly appeared in my Bill, at the end of my stay!!

Thanks Marco. I agree, Bangkok Udon truly is just a facility to rinse people. I went there with a pain in my right side 6 months ago, they did an ultra sound and some tests and said its probably just wind. Five days later the pain was pretty bad, went to a clinic in town and 30 seconds into an ultra sound spotted a 1.8cm gall stone. I also went Bangkok Udon 5 or 6 weeks ago with bladder pain and the doc said 'probably a colon bug'. One week later im told its either prostatitus or bladder stones!

Not a bad price is it. They quoted me 9500 today but that is full abdomen. Dread to think what it would cost at Bangkok Udon. Im guessing 20 - 30k
