Does anyone else feel ashamed about what we did in Iraq?

Post by JimboPSM » June 18, 2014, 10:37 am

The Sunday talk shows and the media appears to be overrun with exactly the same Richard Heads giving advice as those whose spin, distortions, lies and peddling of manufactured evidence in 2003 laid a large part of the groundwork for where we are today.

Back in 2003 the media not only spectacularly failed to undertake a proper due diligence of the case for war, quite disgustingly many of them (in particular the Murdoch empire) were guilty of actively cheerleading for it.

A “refresher” from Jon Stewart for some of those afflicted with highly selective amnesia:

Ashamed to be English since 23rd June 2016 when England voted for racism & economic suicide.

Disgusted that the UK is “governed” by a squalid bunch of economically illiterate, self-serving, sleazy and corrupt neo-fascists.

This U.S. writer for a Canadian newspaper wrote against the invasion of Iraq at the beginning and predicted the mess that would be created:-

The invasion of Iraq was the culmenation of decades of US meddling in Iraq. Saddam was basicly installed by the CIA.

The American public has been fed one bs story after another. Obama no different than other Presidents. They all lie.

Hilarious - the Saudis, who are financing and arming the Sunni ISIS, telling Shi'ite Iran not to "interfere".

Where does this leave the US? My friend's friend is my enemy..... that has a certain ring about it. \:D/

Ya' couldn't make it up - thanks again GW ......... =D> =D> =D>

"....Iraqi state failed to reward Iraqi Arab Sunni tribal leaders who ejected al-Qaeda in Iraq in 2008 with the spoils of patronage, a dynamic that has characterised politics in Iraq before and after the fall of the Baath Party in 2003. If the Iraqi state could offer community leaders and tribes the largesse that characterised patronage politics in the past, they would have an incentive to eject their ISIL coreligionists from the Anbar, Nineveh and Diyala provinces today."

Oh, it's times like these that I include a small prayer of thanks to the Lord at night that Dick Cheney and John Bolton are no longer in the limelight. Try as they may, it appears their neocon views are more of a thing of the past. Too bad they don't drink the same water as George Bush does.....at least he's retreated to a cocoon and out of politics (I respect him for that). Dick Cheney....on the other hand.....the heart transplant didn't help him one iota......he's as heartless as ever.

I only feel ashamed that so-called leaders such as Bush and Blair sent so many many service personnel needlessly to their deaths. RIP to all of them.

An American correspondent on Channel News Asia made a very valid point earlier in the week......
"Before the invasion in 2003 there were no terrorists in Iraq, now there are thousands and thousands of them !"
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Pray tell who was Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Malikiai before 2003? He was a Shia terrorist operating out of Iran.
This is why we need to stay out of there. We still have no clue as to who is who. Your friend is my enemy ..

Nice plane - but where are the pilots and ground crews? Maybe they will hire piolts from Iran or Russian client states who need real world experience.

The American public again is being feed more bs about events in Iraq. BO is trying to back door America into a war.
[The] "U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is for the purpose of intelligence gathering on Iraqis rather than traditional diplomacy. According to the documents, the U.S. Embassy is more like a giant photocopy machine relaying to Washington every political, security and economic issue in regard to Iraq.
So we didn't kown ISIS plans? The US needs to get out of the intelligence gathering business ecause it really sucks at it.
It covers an area of 104 acres, six times larger than U.N. headquarters in New York and ten times larger than the new embassy Washington is building in Beijing - which is just 10 acres

Jing Jing information for your question

After the United States delayed a sale of fighter jets to Iraq, Russia sold planes to the Iraqi government. Now they've sent military experts to Baghdad.
Gen. Anwar Hama Ameen, who heads the Iraqi air force, explained that the secondhand jets would quickly be deployed in the government's fight against the Sunni extremist group ISIS.
In the coming three or four days the aircraft will be in service to support our forces in the fight.”

So, it seems they have a plan

yes, all the news media have reported that these SU-25 "Frogfoot" ground attack aircraft would be flying within several days.. But flown by whom?? The Iraqi Air Force had SU-25's up until the spring of 2003 when they were destroyed or flown to Iran.. I would find it highly improbable that some former Iraqi SU-25 pilot could get back up to speed within several days...

LOL I thought the same thing...

It might be fun to shoot one down and recover the pilot "Vadim", oops I mean "Tahir".

I'd be surprised if they can even start the engines on them without a bunch of moths & spiders crawling out. :badteeth: :badteeth:

They'd be better off with one of those fake stealth jets the Iranians have been "showcasing"....

Ka-ching ka-ching Putin doesn't care either. He is going to make money now selling the Iraqis all the consumables they will need to keep these planes operational. I'm sure he can recommend a few pilots ka-ching. The ex-KGB guy is putting the screws to the community organizer.
