English Premier League 2018/19
Re: English Premier League 2018/19
I think I'm going to start betting on Liverpool. That will probably jinx them.
I understand the way this tribalism works is that if I support the wonderful Toffees, I'm supposed to be cursing the neighbouring team.
As I don't have the necessary voodoo doll, I'll try and curse them with some betting. In my experience that too often works. I'm not Thai based so it's all legal for me.

GT93: Chelsea at home against Liverpool this weekend although Everton - Fulham at Goodison is the game of the round.
GT93: Yes.I think $5 on Liverpool will do nicely. I'll put that on shortly.

Re: English Premier League 2018/19
The mighty Whammers excelled tonight showing Man Utd the way forward pretty much from the kick off. West Ham's defence was still very patchy in the beginning but fortunately Lukaku and Martial were playing well below par with Lukaku being dispossessed like a Sunday league player. Mourhino still appears to be in denial, he blames everyone, linesman and referee, everyone in fact other than himself. A strange decision was a start to the second half with no change from Man Utd, back in the days of Chelski we would have expected at least two subs, does he have that much faith in his playing team or has he lost his nerve? Significantly when he did eventually substitute one of the players he took off was Pogba, has the relationship soured beyond repair? All in all, West Ham were the much better side keeping possession and showing fluidity, things bode well for the upcoming season and I wouldn't be surprised to see a top 5 finish, a well deserved 3 - 1 win.

With regard to Mourinho's ongoing struggle with his team of over-inflated egos, I hear he's been making inquiries about Stephen Dobbie.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45630356
"Stephen Dobbie may be in his sporting dotage, but Queen of the South's veteran striker can currently claim to be the sharpest marksman in Europe.
The 35-year-old has scored 21 goals in 13 games in all competitions this season, including three hat-tricks.
That gives him a strike rate of 1.62 goals per game - better than anyone across the top tiers of the continent's 55 Uefa countries, and some of the biggest stars in world football."

Crikey, I've just read that Lukaku is valued at €100,000,000, maybe he was just having an off day....

Wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with the fact that none of the other European strikers get to play against that worldwide joke "THE SCOTTISH GOALKEEPER" every week

Showing your age there stats, the woeful Scottish goalie has been a thing of the past for quite a while now.stattointhailand wrote: ↑September 30, 2018, 3:59 pmThe 35-year-old has scored 21 goals in 13 games in all competitions this season, including three hat-tricks.

But the appended makes for a fun read and does bring back some memories of the shockers and howlers perpetrated by Fred Martin, Alan Rough and people of that ilk. Thing is, they were paid a whole helluva lot less than Hart, Karius and Alisson.

"But we can not allow the end of an era to pass without paying homage to those whose efforts brought the role into such grave disrepute; the hopeless, the hapless and the helpless such as the incomparable Frank Haffey who taught us ways of conceding goals we never knew existed at Wembley in 1961 when Scotland were narrowly beaten 9-3 by the Auld Enemy.
Big Frank subsequently emigrated to Australia (there are those who insist he did not go far enough...) and as his Celtic team-mate Billy McNeill, who managed to put the trauma behind him by captaining the Lisbon Lions to glory six years later, recalled in his autobiography, "...by his own admission he did not have the best of games. Those versed in the religious divisions of the west of Scotland will require no explanation but it was claimed that Frank refused to touch the ball because it was orange."

Re: English Premier League 2018/19
The interview this morning of Mourinho on the BBC was fantastic! He tried his usual deflection tactics by blaming the players and anyone else he could think of but hit a new low when he even blamed the nutritionist "if we lose we all lose, it's all of our faults" he whined, surely he can't last much longer?

Hello Alan (747man) and Guy (GT93),
Great to see you both back posting on the football forum again with your in depth knowledge of the game.
Yes,Manchester United are a club in crisis.I think Jose Mourinho will be gone this season, although I dont like player power forcing a manager out,but the football has been mostly dire.
A poor result in the Champions League against Valencia last night.I think United will struggle to get out of the group.
How is Evertons European campaign coming along ? Oh,sorry,I forgot. But youve still got Cardiff home and away in the Premiership havent you.
I've not been following the Premiership too much this season but the cheerfulness of your posts suggests Everton are up there challenging for the title ? Lets see.....
1.Man City 2.Chelsea 3.Liverpool 4.Spuds 5.Arsenal...well,they are all big clubs so are you just behind....
6.WATFORD 7.BOURNEMOUTH 8.LEICESTER 9.WOLVES ....
10.CRISIS CLUB MANCHESTER UNITED where are you ?
aaah, there you are in 11th....but wasnt Sam Allardyce sacked last year when you came 8th ? Still, your new boss Marco Silva has a record of taking clubs places in the Premiership.....he took Hull down to the Championship didnt he ?
Never mind, you must fancy yourselves for a good cup run, surely ? Werent you playing Southampton, one of the relegation favourites in the Carabao Cup at home last night ? How many did you win by?.....oooh,you lost !
Incidentally,I see one of your players,Nikola Vlasic,on loan from you scored the winner against Real Madrid for CSKA Moscow last night.....was he deemed not good enough at Goodison Park then ?
So it could turn out a long ,hard winter for Everton fans again but at least youve got each other to console yourselves ! Just remember Tranmere Rovers are a more popular team in Liverpool than Everton !
Take care now. "I never knew what true happiness was till I discovered 747man and Everton FC."

Now, do you reckon you're good enough to take over from Jose?
Looking further ahead, how long before Jose gets appointed manager at the Toon?
...or Scunthorpe?
