Tottenham Hotspur 6 - 1 Rochdale
As usual in the 'near thing' FA cup draws, the senior side get through the replay fairly easily.
Statts will be delighted, though, that all the major talking points about the game revolve around VAR. :D :D
:lol: :lol: Perhaps you or someone in the know could answer one of my "obvious" questions that don't seem to be getting answered .....

If VAR can be used to make a decision about if Son did or didn't feign or stop in his run up, how on earth are ANY penalty goals ever given during VAR games? For the last 5 or so years EVERY goalkeeper without fail has moved in front of his goal line BEFORE the kick is taken . This IS a clear and obvious error and should require the kick to be retaken (probably 10 or 20 times :roll: ). Also there were about 6 or 7 players from both teams inside the penalty area which requires the kick to be retaken ......... before you can even consider making a ruling on the validity of the kick itself.

Yet another case of VAR being a CLEAR AND OBVIOUS ERROR.

Also the game was stopped in excess of 8 mins in the first half, but only 5 were added on during a period that Rochdale were having probably their best period of the game ........ If they are considering VAR as an option SURELY there has to be a "Running clock" on view to all players/spectators which stops/starts when the ref stops his watch (like Ice Hockey) . It would also make the slow trudge from the most distant part of the field to be substituted a thing of the past as the time it took is the time that is added on whether it be 10 secs or 90 secs.

Tonight I'm going for a couple of home wins with Wigan and Leicester the winners.

Semi Final draw.....Spuds v Chelsea,Man U v Southampton then ??? :badteeth:

I think, for sure Zid, part of your forecast will come to fruition. "The devil will look after his own" by ensuring Mourinho receives a free pass into the final, by being drawn against Wigan, ( I think) or Southampton; thus ensuring yet another 90 minutes of his depressing brand of negative football in the final, instead of the entertaining football festival, for so many years considered an integral part of this special event. :(
But Utd and their supporters now care only about obtaining another trophy, as their sole measure of success ; to hell with football fans! Sadly, they have been well educated by Mourinho, into acceptance of his standards. :roll:

FA Cup 2018.

Fans want to see first X1 v first X1 and competitive matches.

Coaches/Managers want as little distraction as possible to their main aim ....... claiming their million quid plus bonus for keeping their team in the premier league.

Players get a choice of spending a week battling the snow and ice on the training ground to be fit to play at somewhere like Stoke in a freezing snowstorm or get knocked out early and do a weeks gentle "warm weather" training and then off to the beach to relax :-k

Funny how times change ...... back in the day you would get punished for not giving 100%, today you get an all expenses paid "jolly" [-X [-X [-X

Going back even further Statts; how about......
spending a week battling the snow and ice on the training ground to be fit to play at somewhere like Stoke in a freezing snowstorm on a cow patch of a pitch ; getting punished if failing to give 100% effort; getting paid a standard Ten Pounds if losing, Eleven pounds if managing a draw & a magnificent Twelve Pounds per match for a win. Oh yes, players were responsible for cleaning and maintaining their own,( leather), football boots, which included regularly replacing the leather studs and 'dubbing' the boots to make the leather supple. Finally, remarkably, feeling privileged to be in the team, (consisting mainly of locally born , or at least ethnically UK born players), and heartbroken if omitted.
Yes Statts, you really had to love The Game, to play professionally in those days! :-k :(

Manchester United will play Tottenham and Chelsea take on Southampton in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Spurs made the semi-finals for a second successive season with victory at Swansea on Saturday, while 12-time cup winners United beat Brighton.

Chelsea secured their semi-final place by winning at Leicester in extra time on Sunday, as Southampton knocked out League One side Wigan.

The ties will take place at Wembley on the weekend of 21-22 April.

I'm sure when the draw was made the immediate reaction of most footie fans would be "the final could be a repeat of last seasons League Cup final between Man Utd and Southampton !" :^o
If the Spuds don't win the trophy playing both the semi final and the final on their home ground,theyll never win nuffink ! =;

Question ......

If a player plays for team "A" in the early rounds of FA Cup and then gets transferred in Jan to team "B" he is "Cup Tied" ie; he has had his chance and cannot then play for his new team

Why then was Mark Hughes not made to sit in the stands at Wigan? He has already been eliminated from the competition and should not be allowed to influence the game.

He can take training etc in the run up to the game, in the same way that a cup tied player is allowed to train with his teamates, but on match day they BOTH have to sit in the stand and let others cover their jobs.

Just imagine if it were Coventry who played Southampton yesterday. Their manager has already eliminated Hughes team (Stoke) and then has to play against the same guy again ......... =;

Why should sparky be given the chance to lead a team out at Wembley in a competition that he has already been knocked out of?

Not sure if its still the case, but back in the day you could purchase a Season Ticket for all League & Cup games.
Could be a few Spuds supporters making a lot of noise if someone now says they cannot have their season ticket seat for the semi and final :lol:

Good point Statto. Semi - Finals are supposed to be played on neutral grounds. Just how neutral is Wembley to Spurs?

Shame on you Zid! [-X As has been proved many times, The Mouth doesn't need the help[ of you, or anybody else, to come up with a host of 'reasons', ( of which the one put forward by you will obviously be his number one :roll: ),should Utd fail to win the FA Cup. Either way, nothing is more certain than that success will be entirely due to The Mouth, and failure to everyone and everything EXCEPT The Mouth. =;
Incidentally, I hate to remind you of your post, (believe me? :lol: ), in which you wrote that Spurs would not win the EPL BECAUSE of the team's inability to duplicate their away form when playing at Wembley :-" :oops:
While I have followed the fortunes of Spurs for many decades, I will be hoping and praying they win, for the benefit of neutral fans world wide, hoping to be entertained by a final played between two teams known for their preference for playing flowing attacking & entertaining football.
Thus, logically, no neutrals will have any doubts that both football, and the fans, will best be served by a final between Chelsea & Spurs [-o< ; rather than face the purgatory of suffering the spectacle of 90 minutes of football negativity from Utd. ](*,)

No bright spark at the FA worked out how much advertising revenue they could get if it was played at Miami Florida or LA?

Plus added warm weather training as a bonus \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

Problem for the fans to get to the game :-k who cares, they can watch it on pay TV , think about the money :love: :love: :love:
