In Makro & Tesco you can bulk buy at any time. Bulk buy is classed as at least 10 liters or 2 cases of beer.

I believe you have to do this as the check out till is programmed not to accept alcohol sales during those times.
Once I arrived at the Tesco checkout at 14.00, by my phone time, with a bottle of vodka. I tried using my boyish charm to sweet talk the cashier as let's face it my days of being mistaken for an under aged Thai schoolboy are over and was told she literally couldn't scan it through as it was 14.00. "It no work" were more the words used as she tried to scan it through a few times in demonstration.

If I want booze on Buddhist or National holidays my local mom n pop shop always oblige and use a small black plastic bin bag to hide the "evidence" whilst I ***** my way home. A nice get around Thai style.

When and if a Day of Alcohol banned is coming over the horizon, one buys in advance. it is NOT rocket science neither do you need a degree, just a little bit of foresight and planning, Thais have neither but judging by some of the posters neither do they.

Come on BIGOTRY ! really why is it that some foreigners seem to have lost the plot, to plan and think. Couldn't be more simpler or am I the only one with the ability to think ahead. if that is bigotry, then bring it on .

After 11 years here I have NEVER had a problem on Budda days or any other day for that matter by the simple method of being aware and planning.; neither would I moan about it , just get on and work around the problem.

I can give lessons if you want for those that need leading down the path of enlightenment , costly but worth it.

Bigotry now compounded by confusion and/or ignorance.

I went to Tesco 2 weeks ago & when I got to the checkout I was informed it was 1 minuit past 2 according to the cash register & could not be put through. I pointed out that I was buying 2 cases of beer & the cashier pressed a button or something on the register & scanned the 2 boxes through.

Same for me last week about 3:30PM. Bought one box of beer and 4 liters of alcohol (which I believe meets the 10 liter threshold). No problem.
Every day I wake up is a good day.

I hope everyone survived last Friday and no one was getting the shakes from one of the "forced non alcoholic beverage days". These days seem to cause some stress as they approach.

I can't see the Thais getting so stressed about this. They have a lot of foresight and planning on many matters. Mai bpen rai and their ability to circumvent rules sometimes has its advantages. They won't be needing Khun Paul's lessons.

Jack that's not bigotry its a fact. Look at the nation and its problems, wake up get a life and be careful who you are calling ignorant or copnfused dear boy i take that as a slight .
it is a known fact that the local population including the provincial government have no foresight, why else would they build on land that was earmarked for infrastructure improvements and then moan about the traffic.
This is the real world. foresight is not their strong point neither is common-sense.

Paul you can take it as you wish - your original statement, here further compounded, is sheer bigotry.

Your ignorance and confusion is pretty clearly visible.

J take a long walk off a very short pier theres a good chap, even Thais tell me there is lack of foresight and they should know.
#We foreigners are mere outsiders looking in. Do you honestly think ( maybe you don't ) that I would think of putting on apost something offensive to our hosts unless I had previously spoken to some and I mean intelligent ones ( they own companies and hold office in local Govt 0

call it what you will, truth often hurts.

Oh I can answer it, but the answer is almost as unbelievable as the reason why, including why, they are now wringing their hands over what to do about the inner city infrastructure. All due to corruption and greed and guess what lack of social conscience.

555. Too soon given the aggro the recent one has caused. We're quite capable of making the Thais seem a kind, generous and tolerant people (which they are).
