Unless the serverprovider is having issues with the server the only reason for a slow loading website is because the routing is bad. And since the internetinfrastructure in thailand is realy poor this is the main problem.
And in thailand there's like 15 more jumpingpoint for the information to take then we normaly have in Sweden kjell.
A ms of 200-700 compared to 5-20 what we normaly get back home is a big diffrence.
Now udonmap is hosted in US, it's a far way for information to transfer specially when it has too travel thrue poorly built infrastructures in asia... 22 jumpes i have to take before i reach udonmap.com from Thailand with an ms of 2676.
In Sweden from one of my servers i have 10 jumpes with an ms of 136.. It's a big diffrence

In my case it is probably the operating system/browser combination that I am using having connection issues to the actual database.
Hi Bob, I have contacted the host about this problem however they're unable to replicate the error and therefore cannot look to see where the problem is. I did give them details of which pages you were navigating between when you received the error message or blank screen and also the IP address but still no joy.

There may be a coding issue with a certain search file, I'll look into this when I have time. Nothing has been changed on the server for a few months now so I'm puzzled why this problem only started a couple of weeks back on your computer.

Anyway I'll keep updated if I find out something.

BTW website speed is most probably due to the routing as Dudde suggests, it would help a lot of the server was located in Thailand.

No problems have happened since the picture I posted....
If it happens again I will gather as much information as to exactly what I was doing & post..

Well this is the first time I've struck the problem! 8 and a half minutes to open this thread from scratch. 4 minutes of that time was getting through login after I cleared cookies??????

Similar here as well Dero.

My Firefox bookmark automatically takes me to signed in, looking at New Posts.
That took an age to open, but eventually did.
However, if I then tried to read a new post, or go to the Index it just 'timed out'.

Tried 3 times before it eventually gave in & let me post against this thread.

The last time while the New Post page was actually loading for me I signed into both Teak Door & Thai Visa & out again before the UM page actually loaded....

And again this is because teakdoor is hosted in Thailand and Thaivisa is hosted in Singapore, while udonmap is still hosted in the US.

It seems to be getting worse for me. Horribly slow loading times. Sometimes get the following:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Udon Map is the only site where we have problems. All other sites load/open quickly. We have three computers in the house and the same problem occurs on all of them. Many times I have just given up trying to log in to UM and go on to something else.

Reporting from Nong Khai: Same as it's ever been, maybe a tad faster (since less users on?).

Other NK members may wish to re-confirm this.

Seems your problem is most likely up thataways, but possibly between your ISP (which one you guys using? TOT?) and then to UM's web host (where is that exactly, Lee?)?

Thus seems to me a specific routing problem per above, since 1) other sites load for you OK; and 2) some of us don't have any problem with UM: there's not that many people complaining.

Not sure what members with issues have in common? Doesn't look like location. What ISP are you all using? The same one most likely, I'd venture.

Then again, I'm no expert in networks, just an attempt at deductive troubleshooting. Good luck.

(And maybe flush your DNSes?) Other members know much more than me and can advise from here.

And now back to as quick as anything....

Obviously a glitch to all this morning, which is nice, as I get a bit paranoid if I think that I am being singled out!! :D

I am on 3bb as an ISP...

Per my last comment, FWIW:

To flush DNS cache in Microsoft Windows (Win XP, Win ME, Win 2000):-

- Start -> Run -> type cmd
- in command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns
- Done! You Window DNS cache has just been flush.

To flush the DNS cache in Linux, restart the nscd daemon:-

- To restart the nscd daemon, type /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart in your terminal
- Once you run the command your linux DNS cache will flush.

Glad to hear it's not just you, Bob! (Although it does seem a bit slower here now! Easy on the bandwidth, eh?)

Other people OK now also?

Been getting the exact same thing as above for a couple weeks now, off and on and only this site. Last night started again from about 2100 until about 0500 this AM. Gave up trying around 0700. Tried again about an hour later, same thing. Finally on now, but dragging.

Reminds a bit when I used to have 3BB (and also many problems).

Funny how some of these issues disappear when they start work Monday morning...

I was having the same problems this morning, fortunately it seems to have cleared itself now. I sent a pm to the host this morning but they couldn't see anything wrong and could browse the website without any problems.

I agree with Jed that this is looking more like a ISP related problem since I am using 3BB also, members using other ISP's or ISP's outside Udon don't seem to be experiencing the same problems.

Anyway fingers crossed this doesn't happen again, and thanks to everyone for the feedback, every little piece of info is very useful.

OT's not had a problem in the slightest. Always a fast connection to UM using a local network 3g dongle, google chrome and Windows 7 and located in E. Africa. And no problems using the same thing in the UK 2 weeks ago.

OT................... \:D/
