And the BIG early KO of the day ended QPR 1 - 1 Fulham ....... yet another case of defenders trying to pretend they are footballers and passing the ball around at the back giving the ball away and conceding a goal. When will these foreign type managers realise that if a player was any good he would be a midfielder or a forward, the fact that he's a defender tells you he aint no bloomin' good at passing the ball. Defenders should get shot of the bl**dy thing as quick as possible as far down the pitch as possible, as should goalkeepers

In the other early KO's Rangers beat Motherwell in the Scottish Cup and That lot from near Everton lost at home to Swansea

Newcastle 4 Rotherham 0
Barnsley 3 Leeds United 2
Charlton v Scunthorpe,postponed
Cheltenham 1 Plymouth Argyle 2
Forest Green 1 Braintree 1
Macclesfield 1 Guiseley 2
FC United of Manchester 2 Harrogate 2

With the exception of Newcastle, probably the next best result was Scunthorpes postponement at Charlton ! :(

Great result for the Iron yesterday and they didnt even play  ...with Sheff U and Bradford only drawing even with the game against Charlton being called off due to a frozen pitch they remain 5 points above 3rd spot ... Rochdale got thumped even better ..

Next up its home to Valiants Port Vale and the smell of revenge is in the air .. as well as smoke and coal dust !!

In the battle for Yorkshires flat cap n wippet bragging rights Barnsley won out ... Leeds march halted for now !!

What price the 4 teams in the Championship play off at the end of the season are ALL from Yorkshire?

Sheff Wed
Huddersfield
Leeds
Barnsley

At least that would mean Yorkshire will get ONE team in the Prem

It is the FA Cup 4th. round this weekend so it is a bit of a strange mid-week for football as well.

Tuesday sees Brighton take on Cardiff & Reading take on Fulham in the Sky Bet Championship. Also Macclesfield Town are away to Eastleigh in the Vanarama National League.

Wednesday sees the second leg of the first Football League Cup - Semi-Final at Anfield at 8pm UK time. Pool being 1 nil down to Southampton after the first leg.
It also sees a Sky Bet Championship clash between Leeds at home to Nottingham Forest starting 15 minutes earlier..

Thursday sees the other cup semi-final with United visiting Hull & being 2 nil up from the first leg.

Liverpool 0 Southampton 1 (aggregate 0-2)

Another blow for Liverpool as the Saints thoroughly deserved their victory with the winner coming from Shane Long in injury time.Southampton outplayed Liverpool in the first half and should have been two goals to the good.Liverpool improved after the break and Can had an effort cleared off the line and there was a decent penalty shout, also.
But,overall,Southampton deserved their win and will meet either Hull City or Manchester United in the final at Wembley on February 26th.
The other semi final second leg between Hull and Manchester United will be on MCOT at 2.45am Friday morning, unless statto tells you different. ;) United lead 2-0 in the first leg.

ROBINS SWOOP FOR WOOTTON

Cheltenham Town have signed Scunthorpe United striker Kyle Wootton on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old came through the academy at the League One club and has scored five times for the first team in 42 appearances.

"We needed to get a big striker in and Kyle is a good opportunity for us to take someone who's got plenty of potential," Gary Johnson told Robins TV.

"People have recommended him to me and after taking a good look at him, we think he's a perfect personality and footballer for our squad."

Wootton has also spent time on loan at North Ferriby this season where he scored once in 14 appearances.

It is understood that representatives of the two clubs met at an unnamed Udon Thani "roadhouse" near the airport to thrash out the deal :drunk:

Hull City 2 Manchester United 1 (aggregate 2-3)

Well,United made it to Wembley but that's about all you can say.Hull were the better team even without Livermore,Snodgrass and Mason.
There star man was the striker,Niasse, who I believe was signed from Everton. Now he's with a bigger club he could well flourish ! ;)
Mourinho should have learned by now not to play Rojo as a left back, only in the centre. He gave away a penalty, albeit a soft one.But all Uniteds defence were poor on the night and the midfield not much better.Overall a very poor performance but Hull played well and can concentrate in staying in the Premiership now.

Championship club Ipswich Town have signed Macclesfield Town winger Danny Rowe for an undisclosed fee.
Rowe, 24, has signed a contract until 2020 but will not available to play for the Suffolk club until Tuesday's league game against Derby County.
He has scored six goals in 25 National League appearances for Macclesfield this season and helped the Silkmen to the second round of the FA Cup.
Rowe is the fifth new addition made by boss Mick McCarthy in January.
Striker Kieffer Moore, defender Jordan Spence and centre-back Steven Taylor have all signed full-time deals, while midfielder Toumani Diagouraga has joined on loan from Leeds until the end of the season

With the FA cup being played today the days biggest game is SCUNTHORPE V Port Vale ...where a win for the Iron can see them back where they belong TOPPA THE LEAGUE as the Blades lost to Fleetwood earlier in the week ...

Fingers crossed for a home win and revenge over Valiants team ... i wonder if he will be making the trip to Lincolnshire and in taking in the sights and basking on the beach in Scunthorpe prior to kick off or maybe visiting one of the many tourist attractions this quaint little town has to offer ... including Frod road chippy , The Britiania "gentlemens"club , whats left of the Steel works and the must visit Skippingdale industrial estate where slag heap skiing is now very popular ...enjoy .

Not doing a prediction as its the kiss ov death suffice to say its gonna be a tight game IMO .
