Cardiff 0 - 1 Wolves
Massive win for Wolves in their quest to return to the Premiership. They need just 5 points from their last 5 games (no matter what anyone else does) to achieve that. They have caused a fair bit of controversy amongst their rivals as to how they have actually managed to get many of their 'loan' players at the club but, personally, I will be happy to see them back.
Cardiff had plenty of opportunities, including 2 missed penalties in extra time alone, to get something out of the game. With a 5 point gap between them & their rivals an automatic promotion place is certainly theirs to lose though. I must admit that with the owner & manager currently at the club I will not be quite so enthusiastic about that as Wolves.. :D

Today sees LUFC at home to Sunderland. Hopefully we can do our bit to help them on their way to successive relegations.
Lower down, Scunny are away to AFC Tennis. 8-[
On the local front: no game for top of the table Nongbua Pitchaya this weekend due to an odd number of teams in the league.
Tomorrow 5th place Udon are home to Army Utd.

Indeed adhoc a win today for Leeds would put the Mackems in whole lot of trouble with successive relegations a distinct possibility.

Scunny away at Wombledon and after months upon months of being in the top 5 they also in need a a win to keep in touch with the play offs.

DM predicts

Leeds 1 ..Mackems 2
also
Wimbledon 1 Scunny 2
Claret n Blue all way thru .. Up the Iron
L2 Season 19/20 Codheads 0 Scunny 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2qrsItFUug
8 minutes is the point of lift off !!!!!!!

Leeds United 1 Sunderland 1
AFC Wimbledon 1 Scunthorpe United 1
Barnet 1 Forest Green Rovers 0
Cheltenham Town 3 Morecambe 0
Port Vale 1 Crawley Town 2
Ebbsfleet United 2 Macclesfield Town 2
Eventful game for Leeds but they couldn't have the satisfaction of sending Sunderland down - although League 1 football next season looks almost a certainty for the visitors - 5 games to go & 7 points from the drop.
The Iron went behind early & took until late to equalise. The draw was not enough to keep them in a play off spot though. Looks like a couple of matches against Sunderland next season as this season seems to be ending a couple of months too late.
The bottom end six pointer went wrong for Rovers. It is going to be a nail biting time until the end.
All too easy in the end for Town as they canter towards a mid table finish. Some bright omens for next season, if they can keep the squad together, but the had a dreadful season start.
Vale seemed to be in control, against a very out of form Crawley, until the ref gave the visitors a very weak penalty. From there they managed to record their first win in a couple of months & leave Vale still at the wrong end of the table..
It was going well for the Silkmen, 2 up with 20 minutes to play, but then a penalty & a sending off altered the game. However with second placed Sutton then going on to lose away to promotion play off hopefuls Fylde they actually increase their lead by a point. 4 to play & 10 points in the lead looks good, even if they have played a game more than Sutton.

I think Macc would have settled for a point before the game but a little disappointing how it ended up,especially the sending off which was unbelievably harsh......another tough game away on Tuesday night at Boreham Wood.

Team,Played,Points

1.Macclesfield 42 82
2.Sutton Utd 41 72
3.Aldershot 42 71
4.Tranmere 40 70
5.Boreham Wood 42 69
6.Wrexham 42 69
7.AFC Fylde 42 68
8.Dover 42 67
9.Ebbsfleet 40 61
10.Bromley 40 60

Teams 2-7 involved in the play offs at the end of the season,so still plenty to play for.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Aston Villa 1 Cardiff City 0
Preston North End 3 Leeds United 1
Boreham Wood 0 Macclesfield Town 2
My Championship supporting friends will tell me 'I told you' as Fulham replace Cardiff in second place. Real scrap now for both the second automatic spot & the play off places. For now though, Wolves still look in fine form at the very top with 8 points & a game in hand lead.
At the bottom both Burton & Sunderland look doomed but the 3 spot to Division 1 is still an open race with Barnsley holding the spot but Bolton, Birmingham & Reading all in the mix..
The Silkmen now just 4 points away from the league!! Tranmere are trying to keep them honest in second spot as Sutton suffer a successive defeat to all but end their hopes!!

Mick McCarthy: Ipswich Town manager leaves club before planned departure
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/43720368

Bit surprised he left immediately but I guess as they are going for nothing & he said he was going at season end it gives them a good chance to bed a new man in before all the transfer chaos starts...
Will be interesting to see where he goes as Coleman looks up for staying at Blunderland even after the drop...

Boreham Wood 0 Macclesfield 2
Another superb win for Macc that edges them ever closer to the title and back into the Football League.
With Sutton losing again their title hopes are gone and only Tranmere Rovers can catch Macc.....12 points behind and 2 games in hand.
But Tranmere have some tough games coming up including Aldershot at home who have hopes of coming 2nd or 3rd....also Dover away who are chasing a play off spot and FC Halifax away who have just beaten Boreham Wood and Sutton in the space of 4 days.
Sides 2-7 are in the play offs but teams 4-7 play off initially with the winners the playing 2-3.So there is a big advantage in coming second or third you would think ?
Heres the table....its very tight for the play offs and two of these are likely to miss out but who ?

Team,Played,Points

1.Macclesfield 43 85

2.Tranmere 41 73
3.Sutton Utd 42 72

4.AFC Fylde 43 71
5.Aldershot 42 71
6.Boreham Wood 43 69
7.Wrexham 43 69

8.Dover 42 67
9.Ebbsfleet 41 64

Dover and Ebbsfleet currently outside the play offs but still in with a decent chance.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 Derby County 0
Wolves all but in the Premiership - they need 2 points from their remaining 4 games to do it.
The other automatic spot now looks to be between Fulham & Cardiff, with the Londoners a point ahead but having played a game more.
The play offs could still involve any of the sides down to Preston in 11th. spot as most of the sides in the top half of the table have struggled for consistency & the ability to put a string of results together..

On the local front: last night saw round 9 of this seasons matches. Udon held on for a 1 - 1 draw in Chiang Mai, and remain in 6th place.
Meanwhile in Nongbualamphu, we saw what was a very entertaining game with Nongbua Pitchaya eventually overcoming Samut Sakhon 1 - 0 to go back to the top of the table. :D

As for LUFC, is the season over yet?

The fact that both Barnsley & Bolton lost their last game means that Leeds are now safe for another season

Aston Villa 1 Leeds United 0
Villa will now certainly be in the play offs at worst. Automatic promotion looks optimistic as they have played 2 more games than 3rd. placed Cardiff & 1 more game than current 2nd. spot Fulham.
14th. placed Leeds fans have been looking forward to next season for a couple of months now, so no change there!!

Charlton Athletic 0 Scunthorpe United 1
Cheltenham Town 0 Forest Green Rovers 1
Port Vale 1 Lincoln City 0
Macclesfield Town 1 Leyton Orient 1
All change at the top of the Championship again. Cardiff have an easy away win while Fulham can only draw, so they swap places again. In the play off zone, Middlesbrough beat Bristol City to replace Derby who continue with their current loss of form.
Big game to win for the Iron. It moves them back into the play off zone (at the expense of yesterdays opponents) after a disappointing run.
I am not sure what the fans of Chesterfield, Barnet & Grimsby will think of the Town v Rovers result, but it was a cracking goal to win it. Rovers move up above Grimsby & 6 points above the zone. They could still go down but it would now be a shock.
Vale have all but, mathematically, saved themselves from the drop. It was a good result against a Lincoln side that have not given up on promotion hopes this season.
Macclesfield are slowly (so slowly) creeping towards automatic promotion. 3 points from their last two games is now enough. Tranmere remain the threat as while they are 10 points behind the do have 2 games in hand.

Oh, sorry, I forgot the important Championship bit...
The Fulham draw means that Wolves are promoted.
It will be interesting to see how many loan players they register to play in the Premiership or if the loanees agent has done them a real favour by getting them a Premiership berth. :D :D

Macclesfield 1 Leyton Orient 1
A little bit of a disappointment for Macc but Orient have had the best away record in the league since Xmas and are in a false position.Macc looked tired with this being their 6th game in 19 days which have involved several long away trips.
They have won 4 and drawn 2 of those so cant be too critical. It could have been worse for Macc near the end as the home keeper was rounded and beaten but Maccs left back,Dave Fitzpatrick, made a great goalline clearance.
Tranmere have still to play both Dover and Halifax away so wont be easy for them to gain maximum points there.

Wolves 2-0 Birmingham
In their last 3 games in the Championship Brum have had a man sent off when playing Wolves. So it was little surprise when it happened again. To make it worse they were already a goal down by then. In fairness the visitors improved considerably after the sending off & were unlucky not to equalise. Don't take the chances & you suffer though & Wolves scored another right at the death.
Wolves now need 1 point to be champions, Birmingham remain 2 points above the drop, but have now played a game more than Barnsley just below them...
