Yes, there is. I have not been there in over 5 years, but it used to be open for membership.

The new fitness facility at the Sports Stadium looks to be nearly completed and much of the [new] equipment is in place. I stopped by this AM for a quick peek. I tried get general information from the security guard posted out front, but being that he was heavily intoxicated it was difficult to understand anything he said. He did let me take a self tour of the facility and I snapped a few pics.

The gym takes up the entire 2nd floor of the building and has 3 individual rooms; aerobics/yoga, cardio machines, and a weight room. On the outside are cardio machines and plenty of them and all new equipment. The weight room is limited on free weights (dumb bells), mostly weight lifting machines. There are lockers (maybe 12"x12") in the cardio room and appear to be for small personal items (keys, wallet/purse) and only for daily use. I didn't see a locker/shower room on the 2nd floor and the ground floor appears to be all office spaces.

According to the guard it's due to open at the end of this month (?), and from another source I'm told it's 30bt a day.

Thanks Papa! I have a real interest in using this facility once it's up and running, so I hope you'll keep us posted on the progress. I suppose like so many of these types of places, it will be jam packed in the very beginning; however, once the newness wears off, the lazy and undisciplined ones will wean themselves out and the dedicated ones will have plenty of space to work out. By the end of February it should be a good place to work out!
Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a simple weight lifters bench without weights. I have seen Big C has crunching benches but they do not adapt back into a basic bench. Any suggestions where to purchase one will be much appreciated.

Try the Marathon store on Posi Road. I don't know if they have flat benches but they show bench presses on their website.

The sporting goods store in Central 4th floor across from Sizzlers may have it. We bought most of our fitness room equipment from there, and I seem to recall that sort of bench.

I never seen a Flat Bench without the dumbbell racks at Sports World next to Pizza Co. or Super Sports one floor below (in Central). At Sports World they may have a catalog or you can show them your photo and ask if it can be ordered.

Big City gym (near airport) closed last year and was selling its equipment, no idea if they're completely sold out, but you could try to contact them.

Also, have you ever considered having one made...a flat bench like the one in your photo would be easy.

How many kilo dumbells can you lift ? Or do you mean bench press ?

25kg is more than enough for a workout

I heard that there is a gym near Papa Falang's but I'm not sure exactly where.

Sent from my too expensive Samsung tablet.

Anyone know of experienced trainers who make house calls? I've got all the right equipment, but lack motivation and know-how.

When I was younger, motivation was easy: hot women. That was 9 glorious years married, two kids, and 10 kg ago, though.

papaguido wrote:There are at least 8 fitness centers that I know of. The best? Depends on what your needs are. For me the best gym is Big City gym, a weight lifters gym, not much in the way of aerobic exercise equipment.

http://biggymcity.com/Workoutprices.html

1. Big City Gym (located south-east ring road, 50bt a day)
2. Physical Education College (west ring road)
3. UD Fitness (near Soi Sampan & Central, 50bt a day)
4. Army Hospital (Tahan Road)
5. One located between Romyen Village 3 & 4 (east ring road)
6. One behind Wattana Hospital, 60bt daily (not the one in Wattana Hosp.)
7. Wattana Hosp.
8. Southwest corner of Nong Prajak park/lake.
*Some of the bigger hotels also have fitness centers.

The phys Ed college has it all, running track, swimming pool & fitness center, a good value, but I also hear it's a bit of a social club, friend of mine quit going for that reason.

Jogging tracks are popular Nong Prajak park/lake with a 3k track, Nong Boa park/lake is 2k and Nong Sim park/lake is less than 2k.
Advice please on number (5) Of the above list, between Romyen 3 & 4. I can't find it on any map.
Or indeed any other fitness gym within an easy bike ride of there. Otherwise it looks like a trip into town for my daily old guy type shuffle around the gym. By the time I've done that the motivation may have evaporated in the heat.

It's been a while since I've been in that area and no idea if the gym still exist. It is/was set up in a converted house and located on small soi's between Romyen 4 & 3 (see map).

Another gym not listed in the above list is at the UD Sports Stadium:

http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/u ... 19322.html

Last time I checked the fee was 30bt a day and opens about noon until 21:00

...and further down the road from Romyen past Big C off the ring road are the Siam Grand hotel and Sittrom housing, both open to the public.

That gym near Rom Yen is now gone and the building has been remodeled for a residence.

Thanks for the update SFG.

For anyone interested:

There's another gym located on Soi Jintakharn. Mostly free weights/machines, very little aerobic equipment from what could see street side. Have only seen in passing and have no other details.

In case anyone is interested...a new gym/fitness is in the works in Nong Sim. It's called individual Kong fitness and located between the Bookhouse and the small round about.
