Angiogram is generally done after or during an infarction. Or episodes of ischaemic chest pain/ angina . Or an ECG that is showing abnormal changes.

Your post suggests none of the above for your friend.

There is a wise saying in Emergency Medicine.

" treat the patient not the ecg"

If your friend is not symptomatic for ischaemic chest pain it sounds like an unecessary procedure .

Thanks Wazza! I was hoping to hear from you because I always trust your judgement.

Only last month I had Angioplasty with a stent at Bumrungrad hospital in Bangkok, this was my sixth stent.

The cost was much higher than this figure.

All in including the stent was 342,137.00 baht. Spent one night in ICU.

A stress test is always good to see if it shows up a weakness in the heart.

I asked about this at Udon gen & KKUH , they dont have it ,one of the cardiologist said he would get in touch with his sister in BKK to see if she could supply it ,,,,but i never heard anything since , the tablets take to long to act in my opinion ,the spray is an instant hit ,

He did an ECG, Ecocardiogram and various blood tests and diagnosed him with low magnesium and a weak heart muscle. He recommended that my friend have a Cardia Angiogram and quoted 36,000 for the procedure at his hospital. I see elsewhere on this thread that the same procedure would be 15,000 baht at the Udon General Hospital. He's wondering if the procedure is even necessary since he got immediate relief from the Magnesium supplements that he was prescribed. Does anyone else have experience with having this procedure at other hospitals, and what was the cost? My friend has asked me to check around for him since he lives in Sri Chiang Mai and seldom gets down this way. Is anyone familiar with the prices at the an individual Heart Center in Khon Kaen? Any comments/advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.
It was me that quoted 15,000 bht , i had it done there , but then there's other charges on top ,,,length of stay in hosp usually 2 day's and any medication they give you ,still cheap ,,,,KKUH for the angiogram it's 100,000 bht up front then depending on the outcome,if stents are needed etc or other prob's arising the cost continues to rise , because Udon didn't have the skill base to treat me i went to khon Kaen , 2 op's later 250'00 bht lighter,(that includes transport & hotel cost's) successful results on both occasions ,i'm more than pleased ,

The old style GTN sub lingual tablets were very suscepible to heat and storage issues as any air in the bottle caused a deteriation in the medication. The " cotton wool " wasnt really cotton wool.it was a synthetic material used as a.space saver.

Also the medication on some patients didnt work as well SL due to dry mucosa .

The spray was reduced to 400 mcg from the 600 mcg tablet as it was far more effective in the uptake.

I have been using this heart pipe cleaner for a couple of years religiously morning and night, recommended by a mate who has been on it for longer, I got an energy boost and if there's a chance it prevents stents and or a bypass that's good enough for me, by it over the net, cost me about 1,000 baht a month, cheap in my book.

Several of my golfing mates are on a self-made tonic which they swear by.

Contents.
500g Garlic
Limes
500g Shredded Ginger
Apple Cider Vinegar.

Place a cup full of the Garlic, Limes and Ginger separately in a blender. Mix the contents with a cup of vinegar. Place the contents in a pan and boil, then simmer for 30 minutes. Allow to cool and add 3 table spoons of honey. Sieve the liquid into jar/bottle and take one tablespoon in the morning.

Caveat. I haven't tried it and apparently it tastes orrible. :D

Having 1 stent fitted 20 yrs ago , problem diagnose from stress test and 2 more fitted 11 yrs ago in australia , this time after a heart attack I am familiar with regular test. Being many years i Thailand I had regular yearly checkups . In all the time since stent fitted there has never been a problem even though I have some dead heart muscle from the near fatal heart attack. I have been to KhonKaen Ram. Once. Good quick service and no issues to be attended to . I have also been to Bkk in Udon. Sorry to say but the cardixxxxxxst was very intered in money. The besr by far and i was checked there 3 times is the Sinakarin heart center in KhonKaen. It is a university training hospital and in my tests I truely believed they knew exactly what to do..

If not urgent there naturally is a waiting time and the fees very reasonable with those involved , perfect english. The last consulting cardiologist may have made better money as a drop dead model. ( bonus). Don't mind the wait , it worth it to have confidence.

100,000 up front if unsuccessful i was told they return a % of that, albeit a very small % , my total cost's last time was 112,000 bht , this time iv'e booked a private room at a cost of 800bht a night ,possibly 3 night's stay if no complications, that was for 1 stent , i was told each stent is 20,000bht , but i would also think it depended on the type of stent and length , mine is 38 mm long , iv'e been told it's the longest available, not sure true or false ,
Just an update on this old post. To correct some information given. I've just been in again. Heart attack therefore because of history straight in for angiogram. 100.000 bht up front. They found the problem .but couldn't do anything about it (only medicate) they returned 71.000 bht out of the 100.000 bht.. I then had to pay little for the extra medication
