It seems certain language skills as tour guides and English teachers are to be given more lee way. Part of the problem is work permits and they want to develop a system to deal with that as well. Things may have seemed heavy handed when the coup happened, probably needed to be that way. It would seem they are looking at long term problems now. Making adjustments to the needs of Thailand.
I would think that for the time being that English is the business language for most the part on a international basis.
