Again i'm the promotor of having your Testosteron levels checked,if low..boost it with 1-2 shot's/month..that's THE one for joint pain..belive me..i suggested that to a friend of mine,he came back and said ..."what the f**** was that,no joint pains anymoore.."I said,i know..Testosteron helps for that..
Who's selling testosterone replacement therapy in Udon?

I would go to Bankok Hospital, why you might ask..Well when i had an accident and broke my collar bone i just asked my Doc.if they would do TRT..he answered yes,but i need to take a test to see were your levels at...But TRT is much moore common in Thailand then for ex.in Sweden.

Or you could just go to any of the bigger Pharmasist shop here in Udon and buy Testosterone and inject it yourself..it's dirt cheap and works for so many other things...fatloss,better sleep, better mode..and much much moore.

But i suggest that you talk with your Doc,and don't be shy..have your test done.Goodluck..Start by educate yourself:

https://bottomlineinc.com/health/mens-s ... stosterone
Thanks for that. Getting a T-test seems prudent as one gets older but the replacement regimen doesn't tickle my fancy; sticking needles and injecting stuff. I friend of mine who is pretty savvy on the uses and abuses of all sorts of stuff through being an avid keep fit guy and regular gym user, suggests that there's a lot of injectable stuff available locally with poor or non-provenance as to it's origin and efficacy. This includes testosterone. Another mate, (another gym hound) swears by the TRT regimen that he's following in Pattaya but he also advises that there's possibly only a couple of reputable clinics and he doesn't recommend the DIY method.

Interesting note that athletes use collagen. It's pretty common here and a quick view of the local tea and coffee aisles show they have bundled collagen with just about everything. They even load it into some packaged fruit juices. That led me to think that it's a Thai fad thing like the all those 'diet' drinks and even skin lighteners. What do you reckon? Collagen supplements or changing up some of the regular, local purchases and imbibes to include some of the "collagen-flavored" ones?
Personally I like the shot drinks because I like the taste & they're super easy to neck once a day. If the ingredients have Verisol B in them they're the real thing. I think you'd be looking at 5g a shot to make it worthwhile

Good tips, thanks.

I am already necking the glucosamine I bought at Forte in a one-time drink versus the 2/day tablet form. Do you know if they have collagen at Forte?

PS: Just saw your PM. Thanks!

No sorry, I don't. Driven past a few times but never ventured inside. Strangely too for this day & age, I can't find a website. I think Forte is a trading name for JSP Pharma but their website is about as much use as a marzipan dildo

It is rather ironical that it is considered a food supplement, when it is actually one of the commonest proteins found in animals. Just eat more meat products, especially the chewy bits.

That’s because they are “supplements” not “substitutes”. They’re for boosting certain things that you should get from a normal healthy diet but maybe your body is having trouble converting due to ill health or old age. They’re not meant to be a replacement for eating the right stuff in the first place, just a help

Tamada, you may be getting too much vitamin A.
Why did you start taking cod liver oil? Were you low on vit. A? Sounds like you're getting a lot from the CLO, multi- vit., plus your diet. I suggest you either drop the CLO or get tested. If you want to take fish oil for the omega 3 benefits you're better off using oil from the bodies of small fish, such as sardines, anchovies, mackerel, etc. They have less toxins than big fish. Molecularly distilled is best if you can find. Hope that helps.

I took it because since time immemorial in my homeland, CLO tablets have been part and parcel of growing up and staying healthy. Daily regimen of CLO capsule and a spoonful of malt. Back then, I think it was all about the Vit A since Omega 3's hadn't been "invented" yet. Beyond sporadic interludes, I hadn't taken them for the best part of my working life and only started back on them in the past 6 months or so, since relocating back here.

I am not a prolific fish eater, moreso now that I am further from 'fresh' seafood supplies. The muddy tasting freshwater fish here also turns me off. I dream of some fresh trout rather than these bottom-feeding, -----eating catfish they get all excited about here. Even the local baramundi is boring. So for my Omega 3's, it's the capsules.

When I was busier, doing maybe 4 or 5 jobs a year, I was much more active but it's been a lot quieter these past 12-14 months. My work meant lots of walking, stair climbing and the like whereas my home is a single-level villa (I hate stairs anyway) and I pretty much drive anywhere I want to go. More exercise is probably needed, so riding the bike more and looking forward to cooler and drier weather for that.

Anyway, good advice in that I will look at the labels on my multivits and see if I am OD'ing on A. What's the recommended daily intake?

The reason I mentioned the CLO instead of the multi is the form in the oil has already been transformed into a bio-active form by the fish. Usually in a multi-vitamin the majority, if not all, is beta-carotene. The beta-carotene won't be transformed by your liver into the active form if you aren't low. I also assume you may want to continue with the other vitamins in the multi, that's another reason I mentioned discontinuing the CLO instead. If you decide to stop taking one of the sources, it may take a few months to get relief, if that's the problem.

Thanks for that clarification.

The GNC Mega Men 50 Plus supplements list Vitamin A (as Retinyl Acetate) content at 3500IU or 70% of daily recommended.

Update on the aches and pains. Since I started taking the glucosamine supplements (powder form in a glass of water) daily about 10 days ago, the joint pain appears to be lessening. This based on the yardstick of the most painful joint (left index finger) has been notably less painful when I push the wife's buttons, etc.

I saw your reply yesterday, and while I was at the store just a little while ago I stopped and looked at the vitamins and noticed that out of the few I picked up all had at least 50% retinyl acetate. I was a little surprised. I'm not sure if they've changed the formulas(possibly due to research) or if I need to start taking something for my memory....

As far as the glucosamine, I had problems with my knees and elbow about ten years ago and decided to try a glucosamine and chondroitin with msm supplement. I noticed an improvement after about a month. I took it for two years and haven't had a problem since. Hope it works out well for you. Be thankful it's not your feet.

About five years ago I had chronic pain in my left shoulder - could not raise my left arm above shoulder hight etc. One year of vitamin supplements plus other sundry pills as recommended by variouis doctors achieved nothing. Finally, four massage sessions at Kut Chap hospital and all movement restored and pain gone. It's been fine ever since. :D

Just checked the Mega CLO bottle and it only lists Vit E at 1.4 mg and nothing about Vit A at all.

Am I missing something on getting to much A?

As I said earlier, the COL was a throwback from my Scottish childhood where there was free milk at school and CLO and spoonfuls of malt for the DIY regimen.

Maybe. I've never heard of cod liver oil without vitamin A. Who makes it, GNC? I suppose they could remove it. Does it say that on the bottle?

Sounds like your bones and joints still hurt. Or maybe you have another problem.Go get your blood level checked if you don't want to stop taking it.
